The staff of The NewsHouse fills you in on our social media strategy.

Let’s talk social media.

Celebrities are doing it. Businesses are doing it. And most likely, you’re doing it too.

According to a blog by Facebook creator Mark Zuckerburg, there are 250 million people on Facebook. That number is from July 2009, and it’s only getting larger. People are signing up for accounts as you sit here reading this.

Like many other news organizations, we’re on Facebook, Twitter, and Flickr. But why?

We want to communicate with you.

Social media is, after all, about being social. We want to know what you think about what's happening here at Syracuse University and well beyond The Hill. Were you at March Madness 2009? Was it better in the Dome, or should it have stayed in Manley Field House? Are the new campus security cameras an invasion of your privacy, or an effective security measure?

Go ahead. Read our tweets, comment on our wall posts, friend and follow us. Our goal isn’t to use social media to talk at you, we walk to talk with you.

So, follow Twitter’s slogan and “join the conversation."
