Review: The 'Silicon Valley' star let it all hang out in a loose, improvisational set.
Syracuse University students and alumni were treated to an evening of new jokes and unique moments thanks to The Lucas Brothers and T.J. Miller, presented by University Union.
As the audience was still filing into the Goldstein Auditorium Saturday night, Syracuse University’s Homecoming Court was introduced on stage. Brandyn Mumford and LaNia Roberts were crowned king and queen, respectively, of 2017 SU Homecoming.
Concert Review: the 75-year-old former Beach Boy performed the seminal 'Pet Sounds' in its entirety during a show that lasted more than two hours.
On Sunday night, 900 fans met at The Oncenter Crouse Hinds Theater to watch Brian Wilson perform the entirety of his album, Pet Sounds as well as other hits from his long career. Over the course of the two-plus hour show, Wilson and the eleven other musicians who joined him on stage played more than 25 songs from the Beach Boys’ and Wilson’s own repertoire.
Review: Trevor Noah was unafraid of controversy during his stand-up set at Cornell University Sunday night.
Trevor Noah took the stage at Cornell University’s Barton Hall Sunday evening to perform an hour of stand-up comedy. Noah, who is cursed to be forever known as Jon Stewart’s replacement on "The Daily Show," drew a crowd of 4,800 people, most of whom were students.
Review: The Diplo-headlined music festival started strong, but petered out as the audience dwindled.
By 11 a.m. buses full of glittery girls in crop tops and boys in partially buttoned Hawaiian shirts and started the trek to South Campus. The lineup at Juice Jam 2017 consisted of Diplo, Ugly God, MØ, Smallpools, and Jeremy Zucker. The first three sets would’ve been enough to fill the fun day of music most students were looking for, but Ugly God and Diplo’s sets left something to be desired.
Review: The lead singers for the '90s rock acts have distinct approaches as to how to celebrate their familiar hits.
Darkness was beginning to fall on the final Lakeview Amphitheater concert of the summer as the crowd shuffled around, eagerly anticipating the first of the evening’s co-headliners. The lights then shut off abruptly, much to the delight of the audience and the opening piano chords of Bill Withers’ “Lean on Me” lingered against the backdrop of dusk.
Releasing a new album, the B-52s singer has gone solo for the first time in her career.
Cindy Wilson, of new-wave band The B-52s, is releasing her first full-length studio album and touring the United States while singing her own psychedelic, emotion-packed, electropop tunes.
“I am balls-to-the-wall excited about this album,” Wilson says of her upcoming Change out Nov. 17.
Wilson and her band performed at Syracuse’s Funk 'n Waffles, the sweet and savory waffle café-turned-music club that has become Armory Square's live music hot spot.
“Syracuse was so much fun,” Wilson said. “Everyone was really supportive about this album coming out.”
Review: Based on the stories of P.L. Travers and the Disney film of the same name, the Broadway musical shares the beloved story of a nanny's magical effect on a family.
Young children – and adults too – who have already seen Mary Poppins at Syracuse Stage may still be trying to figure out how the titular nanny removed a coat rack, among other large props, from her famous carpet bag.
The special effects throughout the whole show, from Mary and the kids flying to chimneysweep Bert walking and dancing upside down on a rooftop, play with the mind.
Grab a bite to eat at Lemongrass before Downtown Dining Weeks in Syracuse comes to a close.
Only one week remains for Syracuse Dining Weeks, the Downtown Committee's enterprising solution to the mid-winter restaurant lull. Venturing out in the frigid night to eat somewhere that requires a bit more than the dining hall-sanctioned sweatpants and sweatshirt attire may not sound like a top priority, but don't write it off so fast. Until Feb. 29, delectable food at some of Syracuse's top-rated restaurants is available for $25 or less.
Review: The first Bandersnatch Concert show of the semester rocked an energetic Syracuse University crowd ready for Spring Break.
If you closed your eyes Wednesday in the Schine Underground, you definitely felt like Spring Break had come early — somewhere between Coachella and a desert oasis.
Unfortunately, the carefree, billow-in-the-breeze feelings didn’t start until an hour of tirelessly waiting for sound check for the Bandersnatch concert series show to be completed.
The sold-out concert began with electronic duo ASTR, pronounced like the beginning of asteroid. The couple is comprised of New York natives Zoe Silverman on vocals and Adam Pallin on electronic percussion.
Music connoisseur Elizabeth Kahn recounts her journey from Syracuse to her favorite place in the world: The Coachella Music and Arts Festival in Indio, Calif.
Sunday, April 21: Day Three
11 a.m.: I sleep in for the longest on Day 3, probably because I’ve been overexposed to the sun for the last 48 hours, jet-lagged, and finally adjusted to the desert nighttime and camping lifestyle conditions… too bad it’s all going to be over soon.
2 p.m.: Coachella Art Studio sponsored by The Coachella Valley Art Scene During the day I managed to check out the Coachella Art Studio on the camping grounds, about a five-minute walk from our campsite.
