Music connoisseur Elizabeth Kahn recounts her journey from Syracuse to her favorite place in the world: The Coachella Music and Arts Festival in Indio, Calif.

Saturday, April 20: Jour Deux

10 a.m: I can’t manage to sleep in any later. Damn it’s hot, but I’d rather be in dangerously high temperatures than back in Syracuse.

Things accomplished: My first shower in the campsite showers was way cleaner than expected. Although there was a VIP Shower option for $10, my camping neighbor Ana and I decided that it was worth it to just wait it out for the free showers since other girls leaving the area said it wasn’t so bad. Felt very refreshed and ready for the second day of the festivities.

Review: The founding member of the Wu-Tang Clan rolled out the classics at Westcott Theatre on Friday.

“Keep it loud as f-ck. At least let me get some feedback.”

GZA’s duel over the iron mic with the inept sound engineer was a reoccurring theme throughout the night. The lack of response from the sound booth, though, was compensated with an electric human feedback comprised of a circuitry of hands forming the renowned Wu-symbol, hammering heads and feet pulsating to the rhythms of the hits of the night: Duel of The Iron Mic, 4th Chamber, Protect Ya Neck, and Reunited.

Netflix's first foray into television production may be the beginning of a bright future for on-demand television.

If Netflix’s original series House of Cards represents a new model for television, the future is bright.

Review: The debut album by Trent Reznor's collaborative project 'How To Destroy Angels' is a flag planted in his new creative path.

As accomplished and groundbreaking as Trent Reznor has been while presiding over his industrial day-job Nine Inch Nails, there’s a startling irony to the fact that his most riveting work in recent years has been created while working completely outside that box.

Review: Syracuse-based band The Vanderbuilts released "I Wish I Was a Saber-Toothed Tiger" Feb. 14 via their website and YouTube.

"I Wish I Was a Saber Tooth-Tiger" starts out slow and melodic, a guitar progression accompanied by a few plucked banjo notes. But much like its accompanying video, it quickly morphs into something imaginative and upbeat, fluid vocals layered over guitar riffs, piano and violin.

If it's any indication of what's to be expected on The Vanderbuilts' second album, we can expect something great.

Review: The recent exhibition "Inventing Abstraction" at the Museum of Modern Art foreshadows the tumult of World War II.

Inventing Abstraction 1910-1925,” currently at the Museum of Modern Art, leaves discussion on abstract art incomplete by ending its exhibition eight years before the demise of the Weimar Republic. It addresses the genre’s ascension and zenith without understanding the collapse of the 20th century’s would-be new social order.

Review: Despite a lively showing, the Friday night concert at The Haunt ended disappointingly.

North Carolina-based folk rockers, The Mountain Goats, played a sold-out show at Ithaca’s nightclub The Haunt on Friday, sampling songs from several records on their 14-album discography, including their latest release Transcendental Youth.

Piterbarg's directorial debut is a tense, engaging exploration of identity.

From the black of the first frame, there is a hum as the patient reveal of buzzing honeybees culminates with the replacement of a hive queen. The placidity and the sound build an anxiety in this opening sequence that sets the tone for the film. Someone is going to get stung.

In Everybody Has a Plan first time director Ana Piterbarg creates an engaging, swampy-noir thriller that balances an unhurried pace with a quickly unraveling lie.
