This is in addition to the 15 players Coach Dino Babers signed in December.

Syracuse football head coach Dino Babers announced Wednesday the signing of three new student-athletes to the 2018 class.

This is the second signing day, with the first happening in December; a new format for college football.

"Having two signing days may be a little anti-climatic, but we still had to finish out a nice class," Babers said.

The process was a lot quicker than in previous years with the earlier signing period. Babers used some time to credit his staff with their work in getting the players.

This is the third recruitment class under Coach Dino Babers.

Following three straight 4-8 seasons for Syracuse, 15 players put pen to paper and affirmed their desire to play under Coach Dino Babers and the Orange next season.

Utilizing a win over the defending national champion Clemson Tigers and the slogan "Orange is the New Fast," Babers and his staff went across the country trying to find the next wave of Syracuse football players.

Season highs included defeating the defending champions, but SU conceded 162 points in the last three games.

As of 3:20 p.m. on Nov. 25, Syracuse's football season was finished. In what could certainly be defined as a whirlwind two and a half months for the Orange, Syracuse University remained ineligible for postseason football.

Non-conference mediocracy

Going into Dino Babers' second year as head football coach, there was a lot of optimism in what was a difficult schedule on paper.

November 25, 2017 - 5:58pm
This marks the fourth-straight season SU has failed to reach a bowl game.

In the final home game of the season, Syracuse showed few signs of life as it was beaten by Boston College 42-14, finishing the season on a five-game losing streak.

With Syracuse quarterback Eric Dungey out and backup Zack Mahoney suited up for his final game, it appeared that it’d be all set for the senior from LaGrange Park, Illinois to have one last chance of glory. And while he did see playing time, it was a lot less frequent.

November 18, 2017 - 7:54pm
Syracuse is now on a four-game losing streak after another away loss.

When Syracuse (4-7, 2-5 ACC) entered Papa John's Cardinal Stadium, the Orange had a slim chance to win. Rain fell almost the entire game, including a forty-three minute delay in the second quarter, but it was no contest as the Louisville Cardinals ended the game with 727 yards for the night, and Syracuse only 335. As a result, Syracuse failed to win a road game this season, and the team has failed to qualify for bowl contention for a fourth year in a row.

Syracuse needs to win both remaining games to finish .500

The Syracuse Orange lost to the Demon Deacons of Wake Forest 64-43 in a football game Saturday, despite having a final score you’d expect from a basketball contest.

Ultimately, it was a tale of two halves. The Orange closed out the first half on a 24-3 run, and held a 38-24 lead after two quarters. In the second half, two completely different teams came out to play. Wake Forest won the second half by a score of 40-5, and the Syracuse defense was demolished by the Deacon offensive unit.

The Orange had a chance to tie the game with four seconds left, but their dreams were dashed.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Syracuse Orange football team fell short in a heart-breaking loss against Florida State on Saturday night.

The Orange were down by three late in the fourth quarter but missed a field goal attempt to tie the game, losing 27-24. Syracuse’s offense recorded 463 total yards against the Seminoles.

November 2, 2017 - 11:09pm

This week on the Cuse Quarter, host Monica Ortiz welcomes Jonathan Singh, Tommy Farrell and India Timpton discuss Syracuse football's game against Florida State.

Last week, the team had a bye week, but they return to the Sunshine State where they last played Miami to a 27-19 loss. However, Dino Babers and the team will look to take an advantage of a depleated Seminoles team. Last season, Florida State beat Syracuse 45-14.
