Syracuse took down Providence Saturday in the Carrier Dome 10-9.

The No. 17 Syracuse Orange (5-4) picked up a win Saturday against the No. 11 Princeton Tigers (6-3) in front of a home crowd at the Carrier Dome. The Orange scored 4 unanswered goals during a decisive third quarter to win its first game in over two weeks. 

"It was a very good win for us," coach John Desko said. "We're gonna enjoy it for the next ten minutes here and then get ready for the (Cornell) Big Red on Tuesday."

No. 1 ranked Cavaliers score 10 second half goals to hand the Orange its first loss of the season

Syracuse (2-1) led Virginia (5-0) 6-4 at halftime after going on a 4-0 run to end the first half, but the Cavaliers overpowered the Orange in the second half and secured the 14-10 victory at Klockner Stadium. Sophomore attack Derek Maltz scored three goals and registered 2 assists. Tim Desko also had 3 goals, one of them was a highlight-worthy between the legs shot in front of the net that sparked the first-half run.

Sophomore goalie Dominic Lamolinara makes game-winning save with two seconds remaining in a Feb. 26 lacrosse matchup against the Army Black Knights, sealing the second victory of the season for the Orange.

Syracuse head coach John Desko wasn’t happy with his team’s performance in the postgame press conference Sunday at the Carrier Dome -- despite the fact that the men's lacrosse team had just won its second game of the year with a 10-9 score. The No. 6 Orange (2-0) was very sloppy against Army Black Knights (2-2). The 25 turnovers the team committed bugged him the most, he said.

The Syracuse University lacrosse team enters this season having lost one of the most decorated senior classes in Orange history.

No. 8 Syracuse beats No. 7 Maryland in friendly scrimmage

The Syracuse men’s lacrosse team mounted a comeback in the final minute of the fourth quarter Sunday to beat No. 7 Maryland 11-9 in the first scrimmage of the afternoon. The Orange then fell to Canisius 11-10 after a Golden Griffin goal with one second left on the clock.

The last time Syracuse played against Maryland was during the quarterfinals of last year's NCAA tournament. The Orange lost in overtime in that game.

Syracuse allowed Georgetown to tie the game with five seconds left and send it to overtime, however, the Orange recovered to strike first in overtime and secure the victory.

After a very uneventful first half, Syracuse and Georgetown battled for victory in the final minutes. The Orange (4-0, 0-0) allowed a game-tying goal with only five seconds remaining, then came back to defeat the Hoyas (2-3, 1-1) in sudden death overtime,9-8.

Syracuse and Virginia met Saturday in a battle of co-No. 1 teams. The Orange defeated the Cavaliers 12-10 to remain undefeated and cement themselves atop the standings.

Jovan Miller drove to the cage and drew three unnecessary roughness penalties with 57 seconds remaining in the game. Virginia was never going to give in to Syracuse, despite trailing by two goals.

Army ended Syracuse's hopes of a third straight National Championship last season, now the No. 2 Orange are looking for revenge when they host the No. 18 Black Knights Sunday.

The sting still has to be felt. Last season, with the SU men’s lacrosse team looking for a third straight NCAA national championship, Army would have none of it. The Black Knights upset SU in front of the Carrier Dome crowd in the first round of the tournament, 9-8, in double-overtime. Now, the Orange are looking for revenge.

Five different Syracuse players scored two goals and the Orange were never really threatened as they defeated Denver in their season opener, 13-7.

Following two lackluster scrimmages, the No. 1 ranked Syracuse lacrosse team finally got to take the field for a game that mattered. The Orange wasted little time showing why they’ve received such preseason hype, as they blew by Denver, 13-7.

Senior midfielder Jovan Miller started the route for the Orange with a 15-yard strike less than a minute into the contest, and Syracuse led 6-2 after just one period of action.
