The duo of Mupo and Lasota carries Wildcats to non-conference victory.
No. 5 Syracuse worked ever so hard to overcome an early three-goal deficit against Northwestern on Sunday.
But it ultimately came up one play short.
Former Tewaaraton Trophy finalist Kayla Treanor was shout out for the fourth time this season, and the Orange offense failed to capitalize on a number of late opportunities in an 11-10 loss to the seventh-ranked Wildcats.
Kayla Treanor's four goals leads an explosive Orange attack.
Syracuse head coach Gary Gait said it's unusual to play the same non-conference opponent in back-to-back games, but his team handled that anomaly pretty well on Sunday.
Junior attack Kayla Treanor led SU with four goals, and both Kailah Kempney and Riley Donahue recorded hat tricks in a 19-7 rout over Canisius. The Orange defeated the Golden Griffins, 21-13, on Feb. 7.

It's a new and a new team, according to No. 3 Syracuse's Kayla Treanor.
The third-best scorer in team history, Alyssa Murray, is now an assistant coach at Michigan. Also gone from last year's national runner-up are Katie Webster (now a volunteer assistant at SU), midfielder Amy Cross, goalkeeper Alyssa Costantino and defenders Natalie Glanell, Kasey Mock and Liz Harbeson.
But on Saturday, the Orange proved it's still one of the favorites to win the national title.
The Great Danes kept it close throughout, but scoring from Treanor helped seal the victory.
In a match-up between two of the top offenses in the country, No. 3 Syracuse (11-1) clinched a 13-11 victory over No.18/17 Albany (9-1) at the Carrier Dome Tuesday night.
“We hung around, we didn’t give up, we took care of finishing the game at the end and that was key. “ Head Coach Gary Gait said. “I think Albany played very inspired and really gave us a tough game.”
Syracuse pulled away late in the first half and extended its lead throughout the contest to push past Northwestern, 11-7.
No. 3 Syracuse (9-1) edged No. 7/8 Northwestern (4-3) 11-7 Sunday afternoon at the Carrier Dome and earned its first victory over the Wildcats in 11 meetings to improve its record to 9-1.
“No matter what players they have on the field they know how to win,” Alyssa Murray said. “I think that’s very telling of our team this year. We were able to dig deep and even though they came out and scored two quick ones on us, we were able to bounce back from that and make a good run on them to close out the game.”
The No. 3 Orange scored 10 goals in the first half in the 17-4 win to improve to 8-1 on the year.
Kailah Kempney scored on a free position shot seven minutes into the first half to cap off a 5-0 run to open the game for the Orange. That set the tone for the remainder of the game as No. 3 Syracuse (8-1) rolled to a 17-4 victory over Harvard (3-4) Tuesday night in the Carrier Dome.
The Orange used a second half surge to beat Towson, 12-7, and stay undefeated on the season.
Coming off two ACC road victories against No. 9 Virginia and No. 10 Boston College last week, No. 2 Syracuse returned to the Carrier Dome Sunday afternoon to face No. 15 Towson.
Recently named to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List, Kayla Treanor recorded her 23rd goal of the season today leading the Orange (6-0) with five goals in a 12-7 victory. The sophomore attacker scored four of her goals in the second half in a team effort to pull away.
