Commentary: Senior Michaela Quigley visited 23 companies in Silicon Valley over spring break and received advice from Syracuse University alumni and CEOs.

The CEO of LiveFyre, Jordan Kretchmer, sat waiting to hear my pitch. He was dressed casually in a black sweater with jeans, mimicking the relaxed West Coast work dress code. Despite his casual vibe, I still felt intimidated by his presence, knowing that he founded a company that raised well over 50 million dollars in funds and was acquired by Adobe Systems. Whether you’re headed to Cancun or Cabo, download these eight apps to your phone to avoid any unnecessary danger over spring break.

After spending countless hours studying for exams, working on projects and writing essays, many students want to enjoy a relaxing week away from their troubles and responsibilities. For some, this includes traveling to California, Florida or even a foreign country such as Mexico or Canada.

While traveling over spring break is a popular way for students to enjoy themselves in a stress-free environment, it can also lead to potentially dangerous situations.

Three SU Remembrance Scholars spent spring break in Lockerbie, Scotland to see how Lockerbie residents remember the Pan Am Flight 103 tragedy.

From March 15-17, we took a trip to Lockerbie, Scotland, the crash site of Pan Am Flight 103.

At Syracuse, the Remembrance program focuses on what Pan Am Flight 103 means to SU most of the time, and sometimes forgets to take into account how the town of Lockerbie was affected by the tragedy, and how its memory affects the town today.
