The SU alums come through the area three times before the semester ends to highlight the remaining spring concert calendar.

The local concert calendar has finally picked up for the stretch run. Thirty-eight days remain in the semester and at least 28 shows (OK, 26 pre- the official semester's end) exist that are worth seeing in CNY... and there are even more than that. To help navigate how to spend your last music viewing month, here are three recommendations:

SXSW keeps a' rollin' along in Austin and The NewsHouse was on the scene to seek out the best of day two.

Downtown Austin was even more abuzz as the second day of SXSW commenced.  Not only were more bands and fans rolling into town, but there were also two little events you may have heard of (St. Patrick’s Day and the opening of the NCAA Tournament) bringing more non-music folk out.  Needless to say, it appears that some of these individuals may have had an alcoholic beverage or two (or six or twelve).  But that’s just atmospheric ornamentation.  On to the more pressing matter of the actual tuneage of day two…

Review: Syracuse's indie rocker plays an intimate and energetic show at Castaways in Ithaca.

It felt like they never left, but no one was complaining about musical deja vu.

Lead singer Wes Miles called it their, "first show of their last tour of the first album" throughout the night, and Ra Ra Riot reminded fans and friends why they became nearly instant campus heroes at SU not long ago.
