A local high school senior creates a haunted attraction to raise money for a charitable organization.

Common Council passes local law to collect back taxes on delinquent properties.

Arguing that Syracuse could increase vitally-needed tax revenue, Common Councilor Kathleen Joy persuaded a bare majority of her fellow councilors to amend the city’s tax code to make it easier for homeowners to pay back taxes.

“I’d rather be a city of tax collection than tax seizure,” said Joy, contrasting her proposal of allowing people behind in their taxes to pay off the latter through a trust, with the city’s method of seizing tax delinquent property for re-sale.

University Union will announce the Sept. 8 music fest's lineup Sunday, but a little research turns up three almost certain acts.

Update: Alternative rock band The Neighbourhood has announced a stop on their fall tour at Skytop Field on Sept. 8.

University Union has been busy teasing us with hints about Juice Jam, which will take place on Sept. 8 at Skytop Field. An Aug. 1 Facebook post revealed that the concert is now in festival format with multiple stages:

The MTV "Jersey Shore" star, supported by Chicago rapper Rockie Fresh, played a DJ set in Goldstein Auditorium Thursday night.

Rockie Fresh and MTV star DJ Pauly D’s dance party distracted students from the snowfall outside Thursday night at Goldstein Auditorium in Schine Student Center.

The event, sponsored by student programming board University Union, began an hour and 15 minutes behind schedule, as Rockie Fresh faced inclement weather on his way to Syracuse.

The world's biggest DJ showcased his skills at the OnCenter on Tuesday night, supported by fellows DJs Quintino and DJ Tommy Trash.

The line wrapped around the building and stretched down Montgomery Street Tuesday evening outside the OnCenter. Inside, the convention center began to fill with a crowd dressed in neon colors, wacky hats, colorful beads and plastic sunglasses.

The Club Life College Invasion tour headlined by DJ Tiësto had arrived, bringing with it over four hours of vibrating electronic house music, strobe lights and pyrotechnics.

Four SU students woke up to a loud crash and found a car embedded into their front porch. The driver fled the scene after the accident. This is a first-hand account of the incident.

SU professor Marion Wilson leads volunteers from OrangeSeeds in rethinking and shaping up a Near Westside house.

Less than a year ago Marion Wilson bought a house on the Near Westside through Syracuse University's Scholarship in Action. The house had been run down and used as a drug headquarters among some area residents.
