Seniors Luke Cometti and JoJo Marasco helped the Orange outscore Rutgers, 7-1 in the fourth quarter for a 12-11 victory.

For three and a half quarters, it looked like a classic trap game.

No. 7 Syracuse (9-2, 3-1 Big East) was being outhustled, outmanned and outscored by two-win Rutgers, days after dramatic wins at No. 9 Princeton and over No. 2 Cornell.

Following in the footsteps of brother, father and three uncles, redshirt freshman attackman Dylan Donahue has helped the No. 8 Orange to a 6-2 start.

Dylan Donahue doesn’t remember when he became a Syracuse lacrosse fan. All he knows is an orange shirt from his childhood.

He doesn’t remember what it read, its logo, or any designs, only that it was orange. He remembers he was “six or seven” years old, running around his parent’s house in Syracuse with it and a miniature lacrosse stick.

But he does remember what the shirt means.

No. 7 Syracuse used an early first period scoring streak to upset No. 5 Johns Hopkins in the Carrier Dome on Saturday.

Hakeem Lecky knew he would get his chances to shine for the Syracuse men’s lacrosse team this year. But four games into the season, he hadn’t had too many.

Lecky, a 5-foot-10-inch, 167-pound midfielder, found them in the fifth game.

Lecky scored twice off the bench, and starter Scott Loy had a hat trick as the No. 7 Orange pounced on No. 5 Johns Hopkins for a 13-8 win in front of 6,292 fans in the Carrier Dome.

No. 16 Syracuse rallied past No. 6 Virginia in a back-and-forth game Friday night, 9-8.

Kevin Rice dreamed of playing in the Syracuse-Virginia men’s lacrosse rivalry since he played backyard lacrosse in his Skaneateles home.

The sophomore attackman cemented his spot in the rivalry Friday night.

Rice made use of only two shots, driving home the game-winning goal with one minute left in overtime as the Orange nipped the No. 6 Cavaliers, 9-8 in front of 5,388 fans at the Carrier Dome.

No. 18 Syracuse employed a stringent defense and explosive first-half offense to defeat Army, 6-2.

Call it a goalkeeper’s duel, defensive effort or grind-it-out performance. The Syracuse men’s lacrosse team only cares about one thing — a win.

No. 18 Syracuse bounced back from a disastrous double-overtime loss to Albany on Feb. 17 with a 6-2 defensive-minded win against Army on Sunday at the Carrier Dome.

The game, in which both teams combine for 66 shots and 37 shots on goal, saw a completely different defensive effort from goalkeeper Bobby Wardwell and the Syracuse backline.

No. 13 Syracuse battled back after trailing early to Albany, only to lose in double overtime, 16-15, in the team's first season opening loss since 1996.

There was only one word University of Albany coach Scott Marr needed to describe his men’s lacrosse team’s emotions after a double-overtime victory: finally.

Great Danes attackman Miles Thompson scored his third goal nearly a minute into the second overtime, and Albany (1-0) withstood a late rally to hold off No. 13 Syracuse (0-1), 16-15 in the Orange’s home-opener. It was Albany’s first-ever win over upstate New York rival Syracuse.
