This was the case for No. 2 Syracuse (28-1, 15-1) on Wednesday night. The Orange overcame an early deficit to defeat South Florida Bulls (17-11, 10-5), 56-48, in the Carrier Dome while wearing new Nike Hyper Platinum uniforms for the first and only time this season.

Orange drops the Cardinals for the first time in the past eight meetings

It was close, a little too close.

It was a back and forth battle between No. 2 Syracuse (26-1, 13-1) and No. 18 Louisville (20-6, 8-4), but the Orange used a 6-0 run in the final minutes to pull off the 52-51 victory over the Cardinals at the KFC Yum! Center. The win snaps a seven-game losing streak for the Orange against the Cardinals, and gives them a two-game lead over Marquette in the Big East.

Kris Joseph was SU's best player on the court Wednesday

1. SU needs senior Scoop, not sophomore Scoop

February 9, 2012 - 12:11am
Kris Joseph nails 3-pointer during extra play that the No. 2 Orange need to top No. 12 Hoyas.

There was no way No. 2 Syracuse (24-1, 11-1) was going to let No. 12 Georgetown (18-5, 8-4) just walk into the Carrier Dome and beat them. There was no way senior forward Kris Joseph was going to let his team lose against their Big East rival. And there was no way Jim Boeheim was going to have to wait until another game for win number 880 to pull ahead of Dean Smith for the third most wins by a coach in NCAA Division I history.

No. 1 Syracuse (20-0, 7-0) opened up with a 13-0 run and never looked back as they defeated the Pittsburgh Panthers (11-8, 0-6) Monday night in the Carrier Dome, 71-63. With the win, Syracuse set the mark for its best start in school history.
