SU comes back from a seven-point deficit in the final minutes of regulation to force overtime, but falls to the Cardinals, 76-72

The Syracuse men’s basketball team (16-11, 8-6 ACC) came back from a seven-point deficit with a little more than two minutes remaining in regulation to force overtime, and then cut an eight-point deficit with 40 seconds left in overtime to just two, but ultimately couldn't finish the job, falling to No. 8 Louisville (21-5, 9-4 ACC) 76-72 on Monday night.

Melo, the 2012 Big East Defensive Player of the Year, averaged 7.8 points and 2.9 blocks per game as a sophomore at SU.

Former Syracuse center Fab Melo died today at the age of 26, according to multiple reports. He was found at his home in Brazil. 

Melo, a 7-foot center, played two seasons for the Orange from 2010-12. As a sophomore, he appeared in 30 games for SU and averaged 7.8 points, 5.8 rebounds and 2.9 blocks per game. He was the Big East Defensive Player of the Year that season.

No. 5 SU outshoots Saints in 19-6 victory at the Carrier Dome.

The No. 5 Syracuse men’s lacrosse team won its opening game against Siena, 19-6, on Saturday, getting its season off to a perfect start. Syracuse has opened its season against Siena four years in a row and has won all four times.

The Orange dominated the game and outscored Siena in all four periods. Back in the comfort of the Carrier Dome after a long off-season, Syracuse head coach John Desko was pleased with the way his team performed.

A 12-year-old Syracuse boxer ranks among the country's best vies for his first USA Boxing Silver Gloves title.

The Rays Kids boxing program at the West Athletic Center in Syracuse teaches this philosophy to young kids and trains them to become champions not only inside the ring but also in life.

In a rematch of last season’s Elite Eight, Syracuse mounted another thrilling second-half comeback to upset Virginia, 66-62, and notch head coach Jim Boeheim’s unofficial 1,000th career win.

Orange extends its winning streak to three with victory over Panthers at the Carrier Dome.

Led by a career-high 31 points from Briana Day, the Syracuse women’s basketball team (16-7, 6-3 in ACC) beat Pittsburgh (12-10, 3-5 in ACC) 93-65 on Thursday night in the Carrier Dome.

Syracuse entered the game on a two-game win streak, most recently winning at Virginia Tech, 82-72. Undefeated so far at the Carrier Dome this season and on a 16-game home winning streak, their opponents had yet to win a true road game in 2016-17.

Highlighted by four-star quarterback DeVito, Orange adds 24 new players to its roster.

National Signing Day 2017 took place around the country on Wednesday and Syracuse was no exception.

Some refer to the day as Christmas Eve, because there is so much to look forward to and following all of the Orange's prospects signing, SU head coach Dino Babers thanked his team for the way they helped to recruit this year’s class.

“When I think about the 2017 recruiting class I think about the 2017 football team,” he said.

If there was one word to describe Syracuse's matchup against Florida State on Saturday afternoon, it’d be perseverance. It was displayed by both teams, but ultimately the Orange came out on top.

Walter Dodge came to Syracuse University in 1956 on a gymnastics and track scholarship, and has remained with the school’s gymnastics program ever since.

Now, the former athlete volunteers at the gym every week to help students work on their back handsprings or complicated vaults. The 79 year old said at this point, gymnastics is just a habit.

“It’s just something I do. I did it for so long and it was just part of my life,” Dodge said. “I never think about it. It’s something I do.”

Though now gymnastics is a part of his daily life, Dodge originally didn’t intend to be a gymnast.

“I wanted to be a pole vaulter,” Dodge said. “All the pole vaulters were gymnasts.

SU overcomes halftime deficit to top Demon Deacons, 81-76, at the Carrier Dome

After dropping two straight games away from the Carrier Dome, Syracuse men’s basketball returned home and topped Wake Forest, 81-76, on Tuesday night.

Andrew White III led the Orange with 27 points and Taurean Thompson added 18 points to give Syracuse a winning boost following an 18-point loss at Notre Dame.
