On New Year’s Day, Boston College picked apart Syracuse’s 2-3 zone and cruised to a 15-point victory in its ACC opener. When the teams met again on Saturday afternoon, the roles were reversed.

The Orange (11-7, 3-2 ACC) locked down Boston College at the Carrier Dome, forcing 20 turnovers and registering 11 steals. The Eagles (9-9, 2-3 ACC) shot just 39.6 percent from the field and the Orange pulled away early in the second half, coasting to a 76-53 victory. SU has now won three of its last four.

As of Monday, Syracuse men’s lacrosse is officially in full swing or, as head coach John Desko likes to say, “‘tis the season.”

Securing a winning season, however, has become increasingly difficult as the sport grows in popularity. With formidable players popping up across the country, Syracuse faces competition from teams outside the northeast region, including the 2016 NCAA champions, North Carolina.

You’d never guess that Ben Russ IV plays on a basketball team too small for the NCAA.

Russ, a freshman bioprocess engineering major at SUNY-ESF, is a center on the school’s USCAA basketball squad. Standing at 6-foot-6 with broad shoulders, he’d blend in physically on most collegiate rosters.

Despite 29 points from Lydon, Hoyas top SU at the Carrier Dome

The Syracuse men’s basketball team lost 78-71 to the Georgetown Hoyas in the schools’ 92nd all-time meeting on Saturday. The loss was the first at home for SU (6-4) this season and the Orange have now lost four of its last six.

Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim was honest about the performance after the game, saying his team made too many mistakes and that his guards needed to create more plays.

SU totals 55 bench points in 99-77 win at the Carrier Dome

John Gillon and Taurean Thompson came off the bench and combined for 45 points to lead the Syracuse men’s basketball team past Boston University, 99-77, on Saturday afternoon.

Gillon finished with 23 points and did most of his work from behind the 3-point line, knocking down six of his seven shots from downtown. Thompson totaled 22, shot 10-of-13 from the field and added his first career triple as well.

Graduate transfer set multiple program records in only season with the Orange

After a year in which he hauled in 94 passes, accumulated 1,482 receiving yards, caught 14 touchdowns and set multiple program records, Syracuse wide receiver Amba Etta-Tawo was voted to the All-ACC First Team by the conference's coaches on Thursday afternoon. Etta-Tawo was also named a second-team All-American by Sporting News earlier in the week.

SU grabs an 11-point second half lead but fails to hold on in 52-50 defeat at Madison Square Garden

The Syracuse Orange men’s basketball team built an 11-point lead in the second half but squandered it against its former Big East rival UConn, and the Huskies escaped with a two-point victory in front of 15,347 fans at Madison Square Garden on Monday night.

UConn has struggled after losing three players for the season because of injuries but managed to get the job done this time.
