4 easy costumes inspired by this year's movie releases

Channel the latest silver screen stars — from cute to creepy — for your costume this Halloween.

While everyone else dresses as cats and clowns, you’ll get major creativity points for thinking outside the box this Halloween. Inspired by some of the year’s biggest blockbusters, these simple costumes can be pulled together from whatever you have in your — or your friend’s — closet and made even better with a quick trip to CVS or a nearby Halloween store. Pick one for yourself or grab a friend to make it a group costume.

Georgie from "It"

This fall, Steven King’s horror hit was reimagined for a new generation with Bill Skarsgård’s portrayal of the terrifying clown. Dressing up as Georgie is both easy and a gender-neutral costume that’s great for guys and girls. Suit up in a yellow raincoat, jeans and rainboots and carry around a red balloon to remind everyone Pennywise isn’t far behind.

Ruby Roundhouse and Moose Finbar from "Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle"

The hilarious sequel to Robin Williams' beloved "Jumanji" stars Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan and Jack Black. Dress up as Gillan’s Ruby with a pink crop top, green or khaki shorts and some brown riding boots. Top it off with a utility vest and biker gloves, and tie a pink bandana around your wrist. For Hart’s Moose, wear a T-shirt, shorts and vest in shades of green and camo. Add a safari hat (you can find one at a Halloween store) and backpack and tie a red bandana around your neck. Don’t forget your boots and high socks to protect against jungle mosquitos.

Baby and Debora from "Baby Driver"

Baby screeched across screens this summer while helping Kevin Spacey rob banks and looked impossibly laidback doing it. For Ansel Elgort’s smooth getaway driver, just throw on a pair of jeans, a sweatshirt or varsity jacket, sneakers and shades. This costume is extra effective if you happen to still have your old iPod Nano hanging around. Plug in your earbuds to block out the haters — and blackmailing mobsters. Dress up as Lily James’ sweet waitress Debora with a navy dress, jean jacket, boots and high socks. Put your hair in a ballerina bun and wear hoop earrings and you’re ready to drive off into the sunset.

Rose Armitage and Andre Hayworth from "Get Out"

Jordan Peele’s genre-bending thriller introduced some kooky characters, including the (spoiler alert!) backstabbing Rose and kidnapped Andre. Channel post-betrayal Rose with a trim white button-down, khakis and a tight ponytail. Carry around a bowl of Froot Loops and munch on them one at a time to complete her freaky persona. To recreate the possessed Andre (aka Logan), pick up a brown suit jacket from a thrift store if you don’t already have one and pair it with khaki pants and a straw hat. Find fake blood at CVS or a Halloween store and drip some below your nose to finish the look.
