SU guard totals game-high 26 points, banks in game-winning 3-pointer as time expires

John Gillon hesitated a split second before dribbling up the court for Syracuse’s final possession against Duke on Wednesday night.

With the score tied at 75 and eight seconds remaining in regulation, Blue Devils guard Luke Kennard missed a jumper that would have given his team a late lead. Syracuse forward Tyler Lydon corralled the rebound and kicked the ball out to guard Tyus Battle, who swung it cross court to Gillon.

SU comes back from a seven-point deficit in the final minutes of regulation to force overtime, but falls to the Cardinals, 76-72

The Syracuse men’s basketball team (16-11, 8-6 ACC) came back from a seven-point deficit with a little more than two minutes remaining in regulation to force overtime, and then cut an eight-point deficit with 40 seconds left in overtime to just two, but ultimately couldn't finish the job, falling to No. 8 Louisville (21-5, 9-4 ACC) 76-72 on Monday night.

Despite 20 points from Gillon, White, Panthers snap SU's five-game win streak.

After overcoming multiple second-half deficits during its five-game win streak, the Syracuse Orange men’s basketball team’s comeback came up short at Pittsburgh (14-11, 3-9 ACC) on Saturday afternoon, losing 80-75. SU (16-10, 8-5 ACC) had topped the Panthers, 77-66, in early January, but failed to complete the season sweep at the Petersen Events Center. Here are three takeaways from the Orange’s loss:

Despite 29 points from Lydon, Hoyas top SU at the Carrier Dome

The Syracuse men’s basketball team lost 78-71 to the Georgetown Hoyas in the schools’ 92nd all-time meeting on Saturday. The loss was the first at home for SU (6-4) this season and the Orange have now lost four of its last six.

Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim was honest about the performance after the game, saying his team made too many mistakes and that his guards needed to create more plays.

SU totals 55 bench points in 99-77 win at the Carrier Dome

John Gillon and Taurean Thompson came off the bench and combined for 45 points to lead the Syracuse men’s basketball team past Boston University, 99-77, on Saturday afternoon.

Gillon finished with 23 points and did most of his work from behind the 3-point line, knocking down six of his seven shots from downtown. Thompson totaled 22, shot 10-of-13 from the field and added his first career triple as well.

Four Orange players reach double figures as Syracuse men's basketball topped the Colgate Raiders, 83-55, in the season opener at the Carrier Dome

The Syracuse men’s basketball season opened with a bang Friday night…literally. Forward Tyler Roberson threw down a powerful dunk on Syracuse’s opening possession and the Orange did not look back, beating Colgate, 83-55, at the Carrier Dome.

The annual event featured 3-pointer and dunk contests, and scrimmages by both Orange squads.

The men's and women’s basketball teams arrived in style on Friday at the Carrier Dome, getting fans excited for their seasons at Orange Madness.

Orange legend Carmelo Anthony couldn’t make it, but prepared a video in advance sending his support. He introduced rapper Jadakiss, who pumped-up the crowd prior to introductions.

Head coach Jim Boeheim received a standing ovation for what will be his 41st season.
