Syracuse University graduate students gathered outside Hendricks Chapel on Nov. 29 to speak out against the proposed Congressional Republican tax plan. Faculty, undergraduates, and graduate students alike gathered outside the chapel on the chilly Wednesday morning. A crowd of around 100 people was bursting with positivity and applause.

Review: The concert might signal a resurgence for the genre in Syracuse

The Lost Horizon hosted one of the first sold-out punk shows in the city for years, as The Story So Far, Turnstile and Drug Church brought their high-energy sets to Syracuse. Put on by Upstate NY’s After Dark Entertainment, the show brought out around 200 people on a Tuesday night, and concertgoers proved ready to match the touring bands’ energy throughout.

Finals week is here, and students flock to the usual spots to get their studying done. The couches at Panasci Lounge are great, but you risk procrastinating by people-watching or napping instead of cramming for that astronomy exam. Avoid the fight over outlets at “Club Bird"; the intimidating silence of Carnegie Library; and check out these lesser-known study spots on campus where you can actually get some work done. Season highs included defeating the defending champions, but SU conceded 162 points in the last three games.

As of 3:20 p.m. on Nov. 25, Syracuse's football season was finished. In what could certainly be defined as a whirlwind two and a half months for the Orange, Syracuse University remained ineligible for postseason football.

In the final home game of the season, Syracuse showed few signs of life as it was beaten by Boston College 42-14, finishing the season on a five-game losing streak.

With Syracuse quarterback Eric Dungey out and backup Zack Mahoney suited up for his final game, it appeared that it’d be all set for the senior from LaGrange Park, Illinois to have one last chance of glory. And while he did see playing time, it was a lot less frequent.

Seven years ago, Veteran Sgt. Andrew Clary's job was made for him: the bodyguard for the men's basketball team and Coach Jim Boeheim. Clary says his Air Force training has prepared him for the pressure of this position.

Sgt. Andrew Clary opens the door to his office wearing a 2016 NCAA Men's Basketball Final Four shirt. He sits at a desk covered in badges and coins collected from all the places he has traveled. On his wall hangs a signed Joe Montana picture, and lying next to it is his Syracuse basketball backpack.

Clary is in charge of special events for the Department of Public Safety at Syracuse University, which, among other things, makes him the traveling security guard for the men’s basketball team. More specifically, he is the security guard for Coach Jim Boeheim.

Two Syracuse players had career-highs in points as the Orange defeated Oakland 74-50 Monday night.

In the second game of the Hoophall Miami Invitational, Syracuse’s offensive distribution and defensive structure was the difference, as the team shot 48.4 percent and had 12 steals.

"Our defense was good the whole game," Syracuse Coach Jim Boeheim said.

The Syracuse Orange (3-0) defeated the Texas Southern Tigers (0-4) 80-67 to win their third straight game to open the season, while extending the Tigers’ losing streak.

If there was ever a question of who the Orange could trust if their leading scorer, Tyus Battle, wasn’t in the game, that question got answered in the first half: Geno Thorpe.
