St. John's to storm SU in December

Syracuse and its former Big East rival will square off on Dec. 6.

Syracuse has added another opponent to its 2014-15 schedule, and the name is one very familiar to Orange fans.

SU will welcome former conference foe St. John's to the Carrier Dome on Dec. 6 in the second contest of a home-and-home series announced last year, according to a release from Syracuse Athletics. The meeting will be the 89th overall between the two squads.

Both the Orange and Red Storm were original members of the Big East Conference, and they first battled in 1912. Syracuse owns a 51-37 advantage all-time, including a 68-63 victory at Madison Square Garden last season.

St. John's is led by former UCLA head coach and ESPN analyst Steve Lavin.

With a home game against Holy Cross also confirmed for Nov. 28, the Orange now has four regular season games set in stone (home games in bold):

Loyola (Md.) Nov. 25

Holy Cross Nov. 28

At Michigan (ACC/Big Ten Challenge) Dec. 2

St. John's Dec. 6
