A dining-hall diversion

Downtown Dining Weeks starts Monday in Syracuse, and offers restaurant-goers a variety of cuisines for $25 or less.

Downtown Dining Weeks is a great opportunity to sample the wide world of cuisine Syracuse has to offer without dropping a ton of dough. For two weeks, from Feb. 15 to 27, 19 local restaurants will offer three-course dinners for $25 or less. And 14 days leaves plenty of time for double dipping. You can get a lot of diversity—and a lot of dinner—for your dollar. The restaurant roster includes all kinds of food: French, Italian, Irish, Greek, Thai, Mexican and American, to name a few.


The list: 


Ale 'N Angus Pub - This family-owned pub features burgers and a classic pub-grub menu. Normally, most sandwiches are under $10, and most entrées are under $15. Located on Harrison Street, between Montgomery Street and Warren Street.


Anthony's Pasta Bar - Pizza, paninis and pasta abound at this Italian bistro in on East Genesee Street. Prices range from $8 to $19.


bc Restaurant - Fine dining with inspiration from several cuisine types. Normally, dinner entrees range from $17 to $28. Located between Clinton and Franklin on Jefferson Street.


Bistro Elephant - This tapas-style bistro fuses European and Asian foods and flavors. Small plates average around $8, while larger portions go for around $20. Located on the north side of the circle in Armory Square.


Black Olive - Featuring Greek and Mediterranean cuisine. Normally, entrees range from $15 to $25. Located at 316 S. Clinton St., just south of Fayette.


Bull & Bear Pub - This Hanover Square establishment offers burgers galore, along with other sandwiches, melts and salads. Everyday entrées are generally under $10. 125 E. Water St.


Dinosaur Bar-B-Que - Barbecue and southern-style sides. At this always-hopping biker bar, a lone rider’s dinner usually costs between $10 and $20. Located at 236 W. Genesee St.


Empire Brewing Company - Uses locally-sourced ingredients in its food and beer. Average around $15 for a large plate entrée. Located downtown and downstairs—below your feet on Walton Street in Armory Square.


J. Ryan's - Entrées usually under $10, including a variety of sandwiches, burgers, wraps, soups, salads and pub fare, with some classic Irish touches. Located at 253 E. Water St.


Kitty Hoynes Irish Pub - Traditional pub favorites plus other Emerald Isle-inspired ingredients and dishes.  Normal dinner prices range from $10 to $20 for sandwiches and entrées. Located at 300 W. Fayette St.


L'Adour - Many regular-priced entrees in the $30-$40 range, so Downtown Dining Weeks is a great time to experience fine French cuisine on a bourgeois budget. Located at 110 Montgomery St.


Lemon Grass - An upscale restaurant featuring beautifully presented Pacific Rim Thai food. With entrees usually costing between $18 and $45, three courses for $25 is a steal. Located at 238 W. Jefferson St., right off the circle in Armory Square.


The Mission - Mexican, Southwestern and Latino cuisine in an old church converted to be colorful and festive. Normal prices for dinner entrées range from $10-$22.  Located at 304 E. Onondaga St.


Opus - Rugged, exposed brick walls juxtaposed with chic, contemporary furnishings. A cozy place to enjoy a classy, candlelit meal of American cuisine. Average everyday entrée prices around $18. Located at 218 Walton St.


Pascale Wine Bar & Restaurant - Progressive, seasonal American cuisine and an extensive wine list. Entrées normally in the $20-$25 range. Located at 204 W. Fayette St., just west of Clinton Street.


Pastabilities - Carb-o-holics rejoice. There’s a noodle and a sauce for nearly everyone.  Pasta entrées normally range from $10-$20, with non-pasta specials usually in the neighborhood of $20-$28. Located at 311 S. Franklin St.


PJ's Pub & Grill - With a pub, steakhouse and banquet hall, PJ’s has an eclectic menu with some Irish highlights. Average entrée price is regularly between $10 and $20. Located at 116 Walton St. in Armory Square.


Syracuse Suds Factory - This brewpub serves up soups, sandwiches and salads along with traditional fried bar fare. Everyday entrées usually cost under $10. Located on the corner of Clinton Street and Walton Street.


Wise Guys Restaurant - Serves up laughs along with food. Classic menu featuring pasta, chicken, seafood and steak, entrées usually between $10 and $16. Located at 201 S. Salina St.
