La Familia de la Salsa's lessons bring people together and lift their spirits, even in the depths of winter.

The room is filled with twirling bodies, sweat-drenched faces and occasional laughter after missing the beat.

The energetic atmosphere of the evening salsa class at Syracuse Pulse Fitness Studio, 713 W. Fayette St., makes it easy to forget the freezing temperatures outside. The snowy weather apparently didn’t prevent people from coming to the weekly lesson.

Dance: Join La Familia de Salsa where you will not only pick up some saucy dance moves but some great friends as well.

Who: La Familia de la Salsa began in 2004 as a Salsa/Rueda demo team. It has now grown to one of the largest Latin dance organizations in Upstate New York.

What: La Familia offers classes Monday-Friday at different locations throughout the Syracuse area. Lessons are $60 for a six week series or $50 dollars for full-time students with school ID. Private lessons are available by appointment.

Latin dance and culture shakes things up in Central New York.

Five years after La Familia de la Salsa emerged on the dance scene, the organization has become one of the largest and highly successful Latin dance groups in Central New York.  Brian Bromka, Founder and Artistic Director, formed La Familia around the same time he decided to leave his career as a real estate investor and begin teaching Salsa.  His passion for Latin music and culture inspired him to connect with others through dancing.
