Solstice at the Cathedral brings the holiday spirit to Syracuse

The concert at St. Paul's in downtown Syracuse is celebrating its 10th anniversary.

Amid shopping for gifts and stringing colorful lights all over houses, there is one seemingly forgotten part of the holiday season: Winter Solstice. Falling on Dec. 21 this year, the Winter Solstice marks the end of the longest night of the year. In Downtown Syracuse, this event is celebrated weeks ahead of time with Solstice at the Cathedral.

Syracuse Area Music Awards draws local crowd

Artists and fans gather to celebrate local music.

Crowds shuffled through the doors of the Palace Theatre Friday night to celebrate the annual Syracuse Area Music Awards. 

Walking into the venue was like walking into a house party; everyone was smiling, chatting, laughing and drinking together.  The salty smell of popcorn floated in the air as people walked around the foyer grabbing beers and greeting friends in the aisles of the theatre.
