Review: The Diplo-headlined music festival started strong, but petered out as the audience dwindled.
By 11 a.m. buses full of glittery girls in crop tops and boys in partially buttoned Hawaiian shirts and started the trek to South Campus. The lineup at Juice Jam 2017 consisted of Diplo, Ugly God, MØ, Smallpools, and Jeremy Zucker. The first three sets would’ve been enough to fill the fun day of music most students were looking for, but Ugly God and Diplo’s sets left something to be desired.
The popular DJ, who performed on the Syracuse University campus in 2011, will return to headline this year's Juice Jam.
University Union announced tonight that the Syracuse Univeresity Juice Jam Music Festival will be headlined by Diplo, and will also include music performed by Ugly God, MØ, Smallpools and Jeremy Zucker.
The festival will take place across two stages on Sept. 10 at Skytop Field, and doors will open at 12:15 pm. Tickets for the event will be $20 for SU/ESF students with a valid ID. Only two tickets can be purchased at any time. A valid SU, ESF, college or military ID must be presented at the gate in order to gain entry.
The popular DJ partied both during and after his set on Saturday to the delight of all at Goldstein Auditorium.
Diplo's show on Saturday was the most anticipated event on campus up to this point in the year. So when the DJ actively engaged our fondness for social media throughout his night in addition to providing what seemed to be a highly regarded set, it all lived up to the hype.
The big name DJ can appeal to everyone and has a chance to be the can't-miss event of the year.
I've been critical of some University Union bookings in the recent past. Campus shows so far this year have recycled some of the artists we've seen neighboring CNY schools bring first or they included acts that failed to excite the masses (either groups were still on the brink or too niche for most).
Whether you're a newbie or seasoned concert-goer, The Disco Biscuits host a music festival like no other.
Five words to describe Camp Bisco: Vibrant, serene, wild, bumping and unique.
I've been to a lot of shows — indoor and outdoor — in cities and in the middle of nowhere. Last year I was even able to attend my first festival with ATP New York, a unique experience in its own right where I learned about navigating multiple stages and unique side shows.
The fall concert calendar is building up strength and the Otto-Tune blog heads out on a special project tonight.
Summer is a time for festival travel and weekends to the city to catch your favorite band of the moment. You don't have that kind of access to the current must-see acts during most semesters in Syracuse. However, like this past spring session, this fall is slowly turning into something special ... particularly if you enjoy indie rock.
