After bringing Sam Feldt and Hotel Garuda to campus last fall, University Union announced its first Bandersnatch show of the semester featuring rapper Russ as headliner. The performance will include direct support from MadeinTYO and student opener, ye.
The concert will take place Feb. 24 in Goldstein Auditorium in Schine Student Center starting at 7:15 p.m. Ticket sales begin Feb. 13 in the Schine Box Office and online.
Russ is a member of DIEMON, which is a collaborative project with Bugus. He is also a producer, and produces most of his own songs. His “The Real Fans” tour is currently running internationally, and his stop in Syracuse will be between shows in Salt Lake City and Okeechobee, Fla.
Russ’s most well-known song, “What They Want” released in 2016, peaked as high as No. 22 on Billboard’s Hot Rap Songs chart. His most recent single, “The Journey,” already has more than 675,000 plays on the SoundCloud music streaming platform.
MadeinTYO grew up in Tokyo, and began to focus on music while working with his brother, 24Hrs. The two released a collaborative EP titled “24Hrs In Tokyo” during the last week of 2016. He will join Big Sean as a support artist on his “I Decided” tour beginning March 17.
“Uber Everywhere” is MadeinTYO’s most well-known track. It placed as high as No. 11 on Billboard’s Hot Rap Songs chart. It also was certified platinum in the U.S. by the Recording Industry Association of America.
Ye. is a trap producer at Syracuse University. He most recently released a single titled “canunot” via musical outlet Jadū Dala’s SoundCloud account. He was named as one of “25 Artists to Watch” by Run The Trap, a popular news source for trap fans.
