Rebecca Shabad

Profile

About Me:

Rebecca Shabad is a soon-to-be graduate of the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. She will be receiving a B.A. in broadcast journalism and political science in May 2011.

Rebecca's previous internships have prepared her to tell stories for any medium. She most recently worked at NY1 News assisting reporters and shooters cover stories in the field. She also wrote stories and cut video for air in the production department.

From May 2007 to August 2009, Rebecca worked at Newsweek magazine at its N.Y. headquarters. For the first two years, she browsed through thousands of letters to the editor and helped select the best submissions to run in each week's letters column. Rebecca worked as a digital reporter for Newsweek.com during summer 2009 covering Washington politics, foreign affairs and health issues. She produced 35+ stories, blog posts and photo galleries for the website.

Rebecca is a passionate journalist who hopes to eventually cover Washington politics for a broadcast or online news organization. Other interests include the Israeli-Palestinian dispute and World War II. She especially loves telling stories using video.
