Graduate student Michael Gbinije scored 21 points and added 4 assists in a Syracuse dominated game.
Though it was an exhibition, the crowd was rowdy and the Orange came out firing. Le Moyne kept it close after the first half, only trailing 44-34. However the second half saw Syracuse open with a 21-2 run, ending any chance the Dolphins had of winning.
23 year-old DaJuan Coleman returned to the court for the first time since Jan. 2013, racking up 15 points and 7 rebounds. He was strong around the rim and stood his ground, a positive sign from the 6'9" center.
"Not playing in 2 years, [Coleman] was exceptionally good", head coach Jim Boeheim said after the game. "I thought he did some really good things."
The crowd of 8,168 were heavily into the match from the outset, mocking the opposition when a Dolphin missed a shot, and erupting when the Orange made a big play.
Even though the game didn't count on the stat sheet, the Syracuse Orange didn't disappoint on the court, playing an entertaining and fast-paced 40 minutes of basketball that showed glimpses of dominance which will be broadcasted in the regular season.
The Orange will play their second and final exhibition game on Sunday at the Carrier Dome against the Florida Southern Mocs. Syracuse opens the regular season on Nov. 13 in the Carrier Dome at 7:00 p.m. against the Lehigh Mountain Hawks.
