Syracuse men's basketball schedule for 2016-17 officially released

SU will take on Georgetown, Virginia and Duke in the Carrier Dome

The ACC released its men’s basketball schedule for the upcoming season on Monday afternoon, officially finalizing Syracuse’s 2016-17 slate of games.

Rakeem Christmas struggled in his final home game at SU against the top-ranked Cavalier defense.

Syracuse started strong defensively in Monday’s matchup with No. 2 Virginia, but it was the Atlantic Coast Conference regular-season-champion Cavaliers that eventually dominated both ends en route to a 59-47 victory on Syracuse’s senior night at the Carrier Dome.

With the win, the Cavaliers clinched their second-straight ACC regular-season title, becoming the first program other than Duke or North Carolina to do so since North Carolina State in 1974.

The final home game of the season features a number of key story lines.

Syracuse's home schedule for the 2014-15 season goes out with a bang tonight, as the Orange will battle No. 2 Virginia at the Carrier Dome at 7 p.m. The game can be seen on ESPN.

Although SU is already banned from postseason competiton, tonight's contest still features plenty of reasons to head to the Loud House or tune into "The Worldwide Leader." Here are a few things to watch for tonight:

Men's lacrosse: Orange blitzes Virginia early, cruises to win

With the University of Denver's loss, Syracuse takes over the No. 1 ranking this week.

In a matchup of two top-five teams, No. 2 Syracuse dominated No. 5 Virginia in the first half, building a 8-1 lead that would never be in danger. 

The Orange was able to cruise to an easy 15-9 victory at the Carrier Dome on Sunday behind attackman Kevin Rice’s seven points and hat tricks from Dylan Donahue and Nicky Galasso. 

Men's and women's cross country run well at ACC championship

The men won its second straight conference championship and the young women's team placed third.

Different conference, same result for the Syracuse men’s cross country team. 

The No. 14 Orange won its second consecutive conference championship Friday, winning the ACC title in Kernersville, N.C., after winning the Big East championship in its final year in the conference last season.

Defender Mullins sidelined by knee injury

Syracuse defender Brandon Mullins will miss the rest of the season with a knee injury, the men's lacrosse team announced Thursday.

After a season-opening loss to Albany, the Syracuse men's lacrosse team went back to defensive basics in rattling off a two-game win streak over Army and Virginia.

That defense will have to adjust again, barely two weeks later.

No. 1 ranked Cavaliers score 10 second half goals to hand the Orange its first loss of the season

Syracuse (2-1) led Virginia (5-0) 6-4 at halftime after going on a 4-0 run to end the first half, but the Cavaliers overpowered the Orange in the second half and secured the 14-10 victory at Klockner Stadium. Sophomore attack Derek Maltz scored three goals and registered 2 assists. Tim Desko also had 3 goals, one of them was a highlight-worthy between the legs shot in front of the net that sparked the first-half run.

After a win against Rutgers, the SU Men's Lacrosse Team moves up to the number one spot in the nation

The Syracuse University Men's Lacrosse Team reclaimed the number one spot in the country Monday after beating Rutgers University 11-5 Sunday night.

After a thrilling last second win against CNY rival Cornell University on Tuesday night, the Syracuse Men’s Lacrosse Team (10-1, 3-0) looked to stay on track as they got into the meat of the Big East schedule against Rutgers University (5-6, 1-2) on Sunday night at Yurcak Field in Piscataway, N.J.
