Sparked by Alyssa Murray's four goals, the Orange women's lacrosse team posted a 13-6 victory over the Seawolves.

On May 3 against Loyola, Alyssa Murray's late-game heroics propelled Syracuse to a victory.

But on Sunday, it was her hot start that put SU ahead for good.

Syracuse lacrosse player Kevin Drew receives multiple charges Monday after crash in coach's car

Kevin Drew of the Syracuse University men's lacrosse team was charged early Monday morning with driving while intoxicated, performing a hit-and-run, resisting arrest, passing a stop sign, and speeding. A police officer witnessed a 2007 Chevy Trail Blazer hit a parked car on Broad Street in the Westcott area. When the driver failed to stop, the officer chased the car at speeds of 50 mph, well over the posted 30 mph speed limit.

Maryland's Grant Catalino delivers a dagger in the final minute of sudden-death overtime to end the Orange’s NCAA tournament run.

It was a thrilling playoff finish that Syracuse lacrosse had become accustomed to in recent years. Only this time, the Orange didn't come out on top.

The unseeded Maryland Terrapins came back from an early deficit Sunday to defeat the No. 1-seeded SUY in overtime, 6-5. The quarterfinals loss sends Maryland to contend for the NCAA lacrosse title next weekend in Baltimore while SU will watch the Final Four from home for the second year in a row.

Syracuse jumped out to an early 2-0 lead and then pulled away in the second half to defeat a pesky Siena squad 10-4 in the first round of the NCAA tournament.

Syracuse moved into the NCAA quarterfinals Sunday with a 10-4 win over Siena, avenging the shocking upset to Army a year ago.

Johns Hopkins transfer Tommy Palasek played a big role in getting the Orange out of the first round this season, having his hand in each of Syracuse’s first four goals.

The SU men's lacrosse team handed Notre Dame its first loss of the season Saturday, in the form of an 11-8 setback. The win put the Orange in position to win the Big East and lock up the No. 1 seed in the upcoming NCAA tournament.

Syracuse used offensive creativity and great goaltending to defeat No. 1 Notre Dame, 11-8, Saturday, in a front of 14,751 fans. Senior attacker Stephen Keogh scored four goals for SU and senior goaltender John Galloway stifled Notre Dame with 12 saves.

“We’re out there having fun and it’s showing,” senior midfielder Joel White said.

After falling behind 1-0, Syracuse reeled off 11 straight goals to blow away Rutgers, 12-2, and set up a showdown with the No. 1 ranked fighting Irish this coming Saturday.

In the second annual Warrior Lacrosse Classic in East Hartford, Conn., Syracuse University won its third consecutive game with a blowout win over Rutgers University, 12-2.

With the win, Syracuse improves to 12-1(4-0), while Rutgers drops to 5-7, (0-3) following its sixth consecutive loss. Syracuse now owns a 39-8 lead in the all-time series between these two schools.

Syracuse allowed Georgetown to tie the game with five seconds left and send it to overtime, however, the Orange recovered to strike first in overtime and secure the victory.

After a very uneventful first half, Syracuse and Georgetown battled for victory in the final minutes. The Orange (4-0, 0-0) allowed a game-tying goal with only five seconds remaining, then came back to defeat the Hoyas (2-3, 1-1) in sudden death overtime,9-8.

Syracuse and Virginia met Saturday in a battle of co-No. 1 teams. The Orange defeated the Cavaliers 12-10 to remain undefeated and cement themselves atop the standings.

Jovan Miller drove to the cage and drew three unnecessary roughness penalties with 57 seconds remaining in the game. Virginia was never going to give in to Syracuse, despite trailing by two goals.

The top two lacrosse teams in the country, Syracuse and Virginia, will battle for national supremacy Friday night in the Carrier Dome.

When asked about the much anticipated matchup with the No. 1 ranked Virginia Cavaliers Friday, SU senior goalie John Galloway pointed out one aspect that has made this game so exciting. Scoring and lots of it.

“We pride ourselves on not getting scored on double digits,” Galloway said. “That’s going to be our goal. We’re not looking to get scored on more than 10 times by any means.”

Army ended Syracuse's hopes of a third straight National Championship last season, now the No. 2 Orange are looking for revenge when they host the No. 18 Black Knights Sunday.

The sting still has to be felt. Last season, with the SU men’s lacrosse team looking for a third straight NCAA national championship, Army would have none of it. The Black Knights upset SU in front of the Carrier Dome crowd in the first round of the tournament, 9-8, in double-overtime. Now, the Orange are looking for revenge.
