SU's women's coach talks about his experience both in and out of Syracuse soccer.

Phil Wheddon has been the head coach of the Syracuse Women's Soccer team for 10 years. Before joining the Orange, Wheddon had stints as the goalkeeper coach for both the US Men and Women's national teams.

The Orange were set to begin their conference games this week but, due to Hurricane Irma devastating Florida, the game against Miami has been postponed until further notice. That means that Wheddon's team will begin their ACC fixtures with three games against teams in the top 20 nationwide.

Syracuse men’s soccer held on to beat Villanova Univeresity 2-1 Wednesday night at Syracuse University Soccer Stadium.

The teams jostled for early supremacy, before the technical superiority of The Orange took hold of the game around the 25-minute mark.

The men's soccer team must replace eight starters from last year, while playing its toughest schedule in eight seasons.

Change is inevitable in college athletics. Players have four, maybe five years with a team. And if they are lucky, they have three years of playing together as the core of the team. After that, the team must rebuild. The men’s soccer team at Syracuse University is no exception.

The Orange have to replace eight players next season, which is no small task for any school.

“It is a big challenge this year, because of the turnover in the roster,” said head coach Ian McIntyre.

Soccer worldwide has endured heated criticism in the past year in regards to FIFA and its recent corruption scandals.

Don Garber, the commissioner of Major League Soccer, faced similar heat in Hendricks Chapel when he came to speak as part of the Syracuse University's University Lectures series.

SU gets revenge over conference foe Boston College in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament, 1-0

The last time No. 6 Syracuse lost a game was on October 30th in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts. It was the regular season finale for the Orange against the Boston College Eagles. BC scored two first-half goals and Syracuse couldn’t overcome the deficit, falling 2-1. This time around things would be different.

Friday night featured deadly SU crosses, volleys and shots as the offense took full advantage of an overwhelmed Panthers team.

Junior forward Ben Polk scored a hat-trick which highlighted a  5-0 Syracuse rout of Pittsburgh on Friday night at the SU Soccer Stadium. The Orange earned their first ACC victory and moved their season record to 5-2-1 and 1-1-1 in conference play, while the Panthers are 4-3-1 and 0-3.

Droves of fans came out to Syracuse's annual Fan Fest on Saturday despite sporadic showers.

The 2015 Orange Fan Fest took place on Saturday afternoon at the SU Soccer Stadium and surrounding area near Manley Field House. The annual event showcased several of Syracuse’s athletic teams as they prepared for the upcoming fall season.

The senior's header-deflection goal sparked SU to a monumental ACC victory.

In front of one of the largest crowds of the season, No. 18 Syracuse (8-1-0, 2-1-0) defeated Atlantic Coast Conference opponent and second-ranked Virginia (4-3-1, 1-1-1) in a hard-fought 1-0 contest. 

The win was SU’s first against a top-five team since 2001, when it defeated then-No. 8 Rutgers. 

The decisive goal game in the 31st minute when senior defender Skylar Thomas took flight and headed a perfect corner pass from Julian Buescher into the upper left corner of the net.
