With the release of new album 'Half Sister,' Syracuse University senior and singer Sarah Aument hopes to advance music career with bandmates after graduation this May.

After she released her first album, Vertical Lines, Syracuse University student and singer Sarah Aument showed no signs of slowing down.

There may have been other people besides Syracuse University students at the Westcott Theater Friday night, but, as Giovanni Giardina, drummer for Syracuse band Animal Pants put it, it was "an SU party."

There seems to be a year-end list for everything nowadays. Why not the top nine items in Syracuse music for '09?

Music probably isn't the first thing you think of when you hear Syracuse (it's probably not even one of the top five things you think of) That said, there's more going on than you'd imagine if you haven't been paying attention in 2009.  Presenting perhaps the first ever year-end music list specific to the 315...

Sophomore Sarah Aument brings her music to new audiences, thanks to student-run record label.

Those who want to become rock stars usually make a demo, send it to record companies and hope for the best. Sarah Aument is not one of those people.

In fact, she did not even come to Syracuse University thinking she would be recording music, let alone playing shows around campus.

“We were just coming back from a show and we came back to my good friends’ dorm,” said Aument, a sophomore. “I was playing guitar, and Dan said ‘Ooh, let’s do this.’”

In an effort to promote their wiley group of musicians, an SU indepenent student-run record label, O,Morning Records, is putting on a record label showcase concert this Friday at Funk N'Waffles at 8 P.M. for $5 admission.
