WERW started the spring semester with sounds of Syracuse University favorites Feb. 8.

WERW’s Spring Launch Party jet streamed the largest student-run radio station into a fresh and new semester. The kick-off took place in the Schine Underground Center from 8-10 p.m. and showcased three top-notch acts: campus favorite Charlie Burg, Varsity, and long time friend Vundabar. General Manager Allison Carr was feeling bittersweet describing her role in setting up WERW’s launch party; this would be her last one.

Photo essay: Senior Drew Osumi explores the motivations and inspiration for students' Halloween attire.

I’ve noticed at Syracuse University that there are many people who tend to remain exclusive to a set of friends. They might do this because they feel that it is safer or other people aren’t as cool as their current friends.

As a photographer, I’ve been able to travel around and photograph different events on campus, and I find it incredibly fascinating to see the similarities between all groups of people.

Official says school doesn't aspire to top this category in Princeton Review's annual rankings.

Syracuse University has earned a title as the nation's best, and it's not for basketball or academics.

The Princeton Review announced SU leads its annual rankings of top party schools Monday based on a survey of 130,000 students nationwide.  Students responded to questions about drug- and alcohol-use at their school; the amount of out-of-class study time; and the number of students who belong to fraternities and sororities, according to the organization’s website.

Whether it was their first or last time at the annual event, SU students enjoyed the warm weather and festivities on Walnut Park.

Syracuse University’s Mayfest is seen as a “last hurrah” for students before finals and the end of the school year. Known as a weekend full of food, music and even drunkenness, the annual event something students look forward to every year.

It was Euclid Avenue vs. Walnut Park, Round 2.

It is no myth that if you advertise anything as free, college students will come running. Mayfest 2011 was no exception.

Free chicken kabobs, corn dogs, cotton candy and tornadoes — not to mention free beer for  those 21 and older — had Syracuse University students hiking on down to Walnut Park Friday to get in on the good grub.

More than 2,000 light up one of their last SU nights at a new location for the annual year-end party.

Instead of going out with a bang, Syracuse University seniors were glowing at the 2010 Senior Celebration

Heavy rain and lighting did not stop more than 2,000 seniors from enjoying one of their last night as college students at a party themed, "Glowing the Night Away."  In addition to free food and drink at Manley Field House, seniors played glow-in-the-dark mini golf, got airbrush tattoos and got to hang with Otto the Orange one last time.

While still stunned that SU lets students take the day off to party, Joe finds more than just free beer to like about the controversial celebration.

During my first year of graduate school in 2008, I kept hearing about this infamous  Mayfest. I wasn't quite sure what to make of it.

With more than 3,000 in attendance, the new Mayfest in Walnut Park prevailed, but the Euclid Avenue party lingers on.

Free food and free beer was too much for students to resist during this year’s Mayfest celebration.

More than 3,000 students showed up in Walnut Park to take advantage of the Syracuse University sponsored Mayfest party on Friday afternoon.  Euclid Avenue, in contrast, remained eerily quiet as a few students lounged outside their houses, quietly playing music, watching Syracuse City Police drive by.

Friday will serve up SU's controversial new Mayfest, Euclid's beer-fueled gathering and the Block Party concert featuring N.E.R.D. and Drake.

First it was condoned, then forbidden.  Today, it returns in new form.
