Central Michigan overcame a 14-point second-half deficit but could only muster a field goal in overtime before allowing Syracuse's game-winning touchdown.

Syracuse blew a 14-point lead in Saturday afternoon’s game against Central Michigan, and after not reaching first down in all of the second half, managed to score a touchdown in overtime to improve to 3-0 on the season. It’s the best start for the Orange since 1991, when they finished 10-2 under coach Pasqualoni. Following the 30-27 victory, head coach Scott Shafer had nothing but adulation for his team.

The Syracuse QB finished the game with 279 passing yards and 3 touchdowns.

The Orange trailed 17-10 mid-way through the second quarter. Central Michigan University just executed an A-11 offense play, 91-yard drive to take the lead. Fans aired their frustrations as the team look destined for another devastating defeat in the Carrier Dome.

Then the Orange offense came to life.

Syracuse looks to build on last season's 31-10 victory against the Chippewas in Mount Pleasant

For the second-straight season, Syracuse has begun the year with a 2-0 record. Much to its dismay, though, the Orange lost nine of its remaining 10 games last season. On Saturday afternoon against Central Michigan, ‘Cuse will be looking to exorcise those demons.

An SU senior narrates her own experience at the competition and describes the feeling of stepping into a ring.

The days leading up to the USIBA Boxing Nationals were tiresome. Some days I would go to the gym at noon, workout for an hour, go to class, go back to the gym, run a few miles, then do a two-hour boxing workout. Other days, the team focused on sparring, or shadow boxing. It basically started to consume my life, even showing up in my dreams.

But training was nothing like stepping into the ring for the first time. You train for months, but you only have six minutes in the ring to prove yourself.

The Orange fade on college basketball's biggest stage, letting the chance slip away of returning Syracuse's first national championship since 2003.

Many phrases received six foot burials leading up to the Final Four:

Nobody expected Syracuse to make the Final Four.

The Syracuse 2-3 zone gives teams fits if they can’t shoot three pointers.

Jim Boeheim is retiring after this season.

The truthiness in each is debatable (except for the last one after tonight’s press conference—he is not). But one obvious point that few expected to come to light before Syracuse’s 61-56 loss to Michigan in the NCAA Championship semifinal proved to be the straw that broke the donkey’s back:

Syracuse football returns after the bye week to find the Zips from Akron in town.

Mike Williams: Halftime Snack sorely missed #1 during the bye week, dreaming away the days with visions of him soaring high over cornerbacks to snatch footballs from the air.  Walks along Comstock Avenue, clutching a wrinkled snapshot just trying to fill the void.  Low and behold, loud voices and bouncing basketballs slipping through the windows of the Carmelo K. Anthony Basketball Center.
