Though it may not feel like it with temperatures still wavering below freezing, spring is on its way and we 'Cuse students are scrambling to get prepared. Spring in Syracuse is a wonderful thing, and not just because it means that we can finally walk to class sans parkas. In the final months of the school year we see tons of fun, outdoor events. From day parties to Mayfest, there are plenty of socially-driven events coming up that we will want to look our best for.

Syracuse University students are not hard pressed when it comes to finding something to eat. With five dining halls and three food courts on campus, and Marshall Street eateries, grabbing a bite to eat can be as simple as whether or not one is in the mood for Chipotle’s Tex-Mex or Varsity’s pizza.

As veganism becomes more prevalent on the Syracuse University campus, Strong Hearts Cafe and Café Kubal offer carefully crafted menu items without any animal products.

Interviews with students and local merchants indicate that a new nutritional trend — going vegan — is taking hold at Syracuse University. Featuring fresh and healthier foods without any kind of animal byproducts, veganism is now a behavior that many students embrace. As a result, several cafes close to campus are now including vegan items their menus.

A Syracuse Subway restaurant owner lost more than 200 pounds in part from the franchise's Fresh Fit diet popularized by Jared Fogle.

Fifteen years ago, 425-pound Jared Fogle shed more than half of his person on the Subway diet.

From then on Fogle was inextricably linked to the national fast-food chain’s brand, appearing in more than 300 commercials and, for better or worse, becoming the grinning, bespectacled face of weight loss in America.

Following in Fogle’s footsteps is Dov Abramovsky, a 29-year-old former lawyer who was once heavy enough to elicit complaints from his fellow airplane passengers.
