Review: The jam band took a small Westcott Theater audience on a ride across musical genres during a recently rescheduled show.

The Brew waited two months for this night.

The eclectic jam band with a chameleonic stage presence has been gaining prominence across the Northeast, but had their second appearance at The Wescott Theater delayed by one of Syracuse’ s infamous snow-heavy blizzards. Last Thursday the group finally played in an intimate, airy concert hall to an audience of about 50 people.

SOJA brings love to The Westcott Theater a day early

The Washington, D.C.-based reggae act played a nearly-two hour intimate set for a surprisingly adoring crowd.

SOJA played a full house of Syracuse's reggae lovers into an all-night groove with their longing melodies, forceful rhythms and intricate lyrics about unity, love and freedom on Sunday night. Considering that, the show became a fitting date setting for all who spent Valentine's Day Eve at The Wescott Theater.

At first you may not recognize the acts for the first UU show of the semester, but those in the know will tell you it's a ticket worth getting.

It's less than a week after we managed to get a January/February concert calendar posted and University Union (specifically Bandersnatch) managed to already announce an addition with its first show of the semester.

After seven years and several near misses, Juice Jam sells out once again.

At noon, a buzzing mob of 80 students, some sharing headphones, some giddily squealing for Passion Pit and Lupe Fiasco, crowded onto two well-worn yellow school buses at the College Place bus stop. The most aggressive ones pushed and shoved their way into seats – the rest were left behind in the early afternoon drizzle, wondering if the semester’s biggest campus concert was about to start without them.

10 minutes with the next big thing

The NewsHouse talks Pokémon and Passion Pit with eclectic Syracuse University hip-hop duo Mouth's Cradle.

It's been a whirlwind year for Syracuse's own Mouth's Cradle: In between recording their first full-length, The Next Big Thing, and jumping to the "New and Noteworthy" page on iTunes, the genre-morphing hip-hop duo somehow found time to open Juice Jam for Super Smash Bros., Passion Pit and Lupe Fiasco.

Brandon Linn (BLinn) and Kevin Hegedus (Mouf) were busy at Skytop on Sunday, as well, but The NewsHouse managed to snag a few minutes with them after their set.

With Lupe Fiasco and Passion Pit headlining, SU's music festival looks solid, but not overly exciting.

I've been hyping myself about Juice Jam 2010 since June. It's like the off-season in any major professional sports league  - speculation about who's coming might be the most exciting part. Yesterday we finally found out:

Mash-up artists Super Mash Bros, homeschool dance tandem Mouth's Cradle, Passion Pit and advertised headliner Lupe Fiasco.

The Flaming Lips leave a lasting impression

Review: The over-the-top rockers capped a strong night of performances at the CMAC with sights and sounds that won't be forgotten.

The Flaming Lips are known for creating a near-circus during their performances with basic touches like confetti cannons to the more unusual items like giant puppet hands that emit lazers.

Whether you're a newbie or seasoned concert-goer, The Disco Biscuits host a music festival like no other.

Five words to describe Camp Bisco: Vibrant, serene, wild, bumping and unique.

I've been to a lot of shows — indoor and outdoor — in cities and in the middle of nowhere. Last year I was even able to attend my first festival with ATP New York, a unique experience in its own right where I learned about navigating multiple stages and unique side shows.
