The broadcaster and former Syracuse student spoke to students and faculty in the Joyce Hergenhan Auditorium on Tuesday evening.

When Marv Albert was growing up in Brooklyn, he would turn down the audio during sports television broadcasts and do his own play-by-play on a reel-to-reel tape recorder.

He even created a fictitious radio station, WMPA, which was inspired by his initials.

Now 73 years old, that young kid with a made-up radio network has become one of the most recognizable voices in sports broadcasting.

University Union announced via Twitter Wednesday night that Joey Bada$$ will play in the Schine Underground on March 5.

Brooklyn independent rapper Joey Bada$$ will play the Schine Underground on Tuesday March 5 as part of University Union's Bandersnatch Music Series.

Doors will open at 7:30 p.m., and the show will start at 8. Tickets go on sale Friday Feb. 15 at 12 p.m. and are $5 with ID for SU/ESF students, faculty and staff. The opener has yet to be announced.

It's kind of sad NY Mag is so painfully late in addressing the music scene in Brooklyn. That said, their list of iconic indie songs that define the scene is somewhat misinformed and nauseating.

It's usually a bad thing when the mainstream media finds out about a big indie band, because then the band loses it's mystique and edge---it's called selling out. It's a whole other thing when the mainstream media makes a total ass out of itself (which isn't rare) when trying to define an entire music scene--in this case, New York Magazine listing the Top 40 songs that define the music scene in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

Next time you see a street performer, don't just shrug them off. They might be the next "it" band

It's not everyday you run into famous people, or even people who will be famous in the near future.
