After four years on the rise since their debut full length Pickin' Up The Pieces, indie pop band Fitz and the Tantrums have been touring in support of their upcoming sophomore release More Than Just A Dream.
The band has been gracing venues across the nation with their lively blend of indie funk without rest. Their Syracuse show at The Westcott Theater is sure to provide fans with a dose of energy they need to get them pumped for the summer.
The band has been working tirelessly since their 2010 release to deliver their ever-growing fanbase something that has never been heard before. Anticipation is high for both the band and their followers for More Than Just A Dream, set for release on May 7.
Frontman Michael Fitzpatrick (Fitz) is excited to lead the rest of his band on this tour leading up to the release and says that fans are in for something slightly different than what they’re used to from the band. After the release of Pickin' Up The Pieces, Fitz reached the success that he had always felt in his heart that the band deserved.
“Right at the beginning when we started playing for fans and other bands, the reaction off the bat was pretty strong,” he says. The positive response that the band elicited from its fans has created a healthy pressure to write an album ingenuous enough to follow up.
Taking the new additions to their catalogue to the stage has since proven just as successful. Fitz and the Tantrums decided to take many chances with sound on their follow up and are very pleased with the outcome.
Leaving the realm of heartbreak that their debut was heavy with allowed for an exploration of themes and musical dynamics that will undoubtedly bring a new energy to their live show.
With a writing process described as “wanting to have a good time and making you want to dance,” there is no denying that this tour is one not to be missed.
Fitz and the Tantrums will be touring all summer in support of More Than Just A Dream, but this Sunday will be their only stop in Syracuse.
The band's show at the Westcott is on Sunday April 21 at 8 p.m. Tickets are $20 and available at this link.
