Phi Beta Sigma bringing J. Cole to Dome

Rapper J. Cole will return to SU in March for a performance at the Carrier Dome.

J. Cole is scheduled to return to SU once again.

He will perform in the Carrier Dome on Friday, March 21 at 7:30 p.m. with R&B singer Elle Varner opening.

J. Cole was on campus in December 2010, when he opened for rapper Wiz Khalifa as part of the annual Hope Benefit Concert, sponsored by Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity.

The Thrillin' Theta Xi chapter of the Phi Beta Sigma fraternity at Syracuse University is sponsoring the concert.

The Fayetteville, N.C., hip-hop artist has risen to prominence in the rap world with three heralded mixtapes followed by his hit premeire record Cole World: The Sideline Story in 2011 featuring the singles "Work Out," "Can't Get Enough," and "Nobody's Perfect."

His sophomore effort, Born Sinner, dropped in the summer of 2013 at number two on the Billboard album charts and eventually reached the number one ranking. Featuring guest artists such as Kendrick Lamar, Miguel, 50 Cent and TLC, Born Sinner raised J. Cole's profile into the mainstream hip-hop community. The album included the the singles "Power Trip" and "Crooked Smile." 

The ticket presale begins on Monday, Feb. 10 at 10 a.m. at ticketmaster.com, and at the Carrier Dome Box Office. Tickets will be $15 for SU and ESF students, and $30 for the general public.
