Melanie Deziel

Melanie was the Assistant Executive Producer of The NewsHouse for the 2012 to 2013 school year, during which time The NewsHouse won the SPJ's Mark of Excellence Award for Best Independent Online Student Publication in the nation. She currently works as an editor for digital branded content at The New York Times.

Melanie received her master's degree in Arts Journalism from Syracuse University in May 2013. While at Syracuse, she was an online editorial intern for Rolling Stone and worked as an editorial intern for SU Magazine in the SU Publications office.

Melanie came to Syracuse from the University of Connecticut, where she completed her undergraduate degree in journalism. In her time at UConn, Melanie was the editor-in-chief of The Daily Campus, the school's daily newspaper. She was also a new media intern for the Record-Journal in Meriden, Conn., a copy editing intern at The Day of New London, Conn.,  a blogger for The Huffington Post and a community contributor on BuzzFeed.
