The struggle to find an authentic experience in Tangiers

Morocco has been at the top of my list of places to visit while abroad from the beginning. Its proximity to Spain, 340 miles, and the enchantment of going to a country with camels, potent spices, and ocean views made it a must see spot for me. All of this, coupled with the fact that I’d heard stories from my Mom who spent six years in Egypt in her 20s, had me raring to visit northern Africa.

Facebook has reached new heights of popularity, but some say using the site has consequences.

As of January, Facebook has become the world’s most used social networking Web site, according to the web analytics company Compete.com. The previous site with that title, MySpace, had approximately 810 million visits.


Facebook is no longer purely the domain of college students. According to the site’s usage statistics, college students make up less than half of all users, and the fastest growing demographic is over 30 years old.

Help in a Crisis: SU Student Interns at Vera House

In tough economic times, Vera House gets support from student interns.

Vera House, like many nonprofit organizations, is facing massive budget and funding cuts because of the economy. But there is one valuable resource that will not be cut - SU student interns.

"Having the students here is a really big help to the work that we're doing," said Randi Bregman, the Executive Director of Vera House. By her estimate, the organization has lost about 5 percent of its budget because of funding cuts and has had to implement a hiring freeze. Because of this, she said, having interns decreases the pressure on staff members who have had to take on more work.
