Syracuse University (9-0) poured on the points from the opening whistle, leading to an 84-53 SU win over Long Beach State (3-5) on Thursday night. Five players scored double figures for the Orange, with C.J. Fair leading the way with 16 points and a career-high 15 rebounds.

Syracuse started out a bit flat against Eastern Michigan at the Carrier Dome on Monday, but forced many turnovers throughout the game and cruised to an 84-48 victory. The rout was on after coach Jim Boeheim switched to a full-court press in the first half.

After starting out 5-0 with Geno Smith at the helm and a frontrunner forhe Heisman trophey, the Mountaineers dropped their next five to finish the year 7-5.
In the "Battle of the Midway," the Orange basketball team, driven by C.J. Fair and Brandon Triche, stifled the the Aztecs in the first game of the season.

After ousting Providence College 3-1, in the Big East semifinals, the Orange fell to the UConn Huskies, the team they had beaten 3-2 the weekend before for the regular season Big East championship, in the Big East Championship 4-3.
The Orange's record fell to 17-2, a half game worse than the Huskies' record of 18-2, which earned them the No. 3 seed, and home field advantage for the first two rounds of the tournament.

Everybody knows about home field advantage and the boost that a ravenous fan base can give their team. In some places, however, that home field advantage turns from a minor factor in a team's winning equation to something that's downright terrifying for a visiting team.
