Snapshots of Election Day 2011

For the second year in a row, Syracuse University journalism students covered Election Day from start to finish through video, audio, photographs and the written word.

While New York voters made their way to poll booths across Onondaga County today, 130 journalism students from Syracuse University's S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications geared up to cover of Election Day 2011 for Democracy in Action.

The students, divided up into teams of writers, photographers and both TV and radio broadcasters, arrived at polling places throughout Onondaga County for two hour shiftsas early as 5 a.m. and stayed late into the night, interviewing everyone from candidates' mothers to bartenders.
