Join our chat on social media and education

Take part by tweeting or following the discussion at #SMinEDU starting at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 17.

Social media has emerged as a dominant force in society. Everywhere we turn there are examples of sites like Twitter and Facebook being used in new and innovative ways. How is this affecting how teachers teach and how students learn? Are social media tools being utilized to their fullest potential? This is your chance to discuss it with people wondering the same things.

When?

Tuesday, April 17, at 2 p.m.

What?

Join in a tweet chat about social media in a classroom and educational environment. Using the hashtag #SMinEDU you can join in a discussion about the good and the bad of using sites like Twitter and Facebook for educational purposes. The chat will feature about six questions and last about an hour, but feel free to join in whenever you schedule allows.

Where?

The chat itself takes place on Twitter. However, if you are on the Syracuse University campus and would like to join with others participating, you can come to the Collaborative Media Room, Room 253 in Newhouse 3 and log in there.

How?

Follow chat manager Ben Glidden on Twitter at @beneg92, or search for #SMinEDU to find the first question at 2 p.m. Answer the question using the hashtag and those participating in the chat will be able to see your answer and interact with you.

Following the chat, we'll archive the full discussion and incorporate some the best responses into a Storify article.

Social Media

Hi, is there another session that I can attend? I'm really into social media, that is why.
