20 Wineries in the Finger Lakes

Just an hour drive from Syracuse, the Finger Lakes are known for the rolling green hills and tranquil waters that make up their scenic landscape. The popularity of the area, however, is rooted in the 100-plus wineries and vineyards that dot the shores of Canandaigua, Keuka, Seneca, Cayuga, and Skaneateles lakes.

Because of the cooler climate, shale soil and proximity to the lakes, the region provides an exceptional environment for producing white wines--more specifically, Rieslings. For the red wine lovers, don't fret: each winery provides a wide variety of wine samples for under $5 in their tasting rooms, so everyone has the opportunity to find a beverage they enjoy.
