Aux Records' fifth anniversary show was more than just a party - it was a release show for the debut album for local band The Icon and The Axe. "Propaganda" is the result of more than a year of hard work for the band, and the show is a sort of homecoming.
The album has been in the works for 14 months, and both Ulf Oesterle, manager and owner of Aux Records, and the band members said they were excited to see the release.
“I can’t believe [the album] sounds as good as it does,” said Jamie Glisson, lead singer and songwriter for the band. “It’s shocking, a little bit. We’re really excited about how it came out.”
Originally from Syracuse herself, Glisson said it’s particularly fitting to release her band’s album in her hometown.
“There’s been a lot of great music that’s come out of this city. I feel privileged to be a part of that, and to kind of put Syracuse on the map.”
