Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week [16]designers not only showcased their spring fashion lines last week, but they also gave us a brief display of what hairstyles to be rocking when it begins to warm up outside. Lucky for us, we have six months to experiment with, and perfect, each new style before it’s actually show time. Below is a list of this spring’s go to hair trends and complimentary tips on how to wear them for the best results!
The Side Pony Bump
Take the classic pony to another level next season by learning how to perfectly tease a “bump” into your side pony. Instead of teasing the center of your hair, try teasing the side of your part (where your bangs fall.) The height of the bump will create a contrast that adds a new look to a classic hairstyle. Designer Pamella Roland [17] exemplified this hairstyle beautifully by pairing it with gorgeous cocktail dresses and evening gowns. However, one can also dress the hairstyle down and wear it for a fun evening out with friends.

Natural Waves
We’re over those fake curls, we want them to look au naturel. This spring designers are telling us to forget the perfect curls and go more for loose waves. Jackie Fraser-Swan and Ruffian showed that long beautiful waves can make any outfit look alluring and gorgeous. It gives a simple “girl next door” look that no one will be able to ignore. Did we mention it also goes great with any type of outfit for any occasion? To recreate this look, try products such as Marc Anthony True Professional Dream Waves Beach Spray [18] or Bumble & Bumble Surf Spray [19].
Braids
Yes braids have been on our radar for a long time, but this season we are taking them far beyond their typical uses. Rebecca Minkoff [20]used a single braid to act as a head band on her runway, creating a classic Italian style ala Romeo and Juliet. A boho look can also be achieved by taking a simple braid and teasing the top half so that it appears untamed as Rachel Zoe [21] did for her runway models. Side braids and waterfall braids are also hot commodities.
The Wet Look
The newest hair trend on the block is definitely out there, and going to take a little getting used to for many of us. It is called the “wet look” and it is exactly how it sounds: wet looking. The darker color that hair takes on when it is damp is recreated by stylists using strategically placed hair gel to add contrast and give a defined hair shape. Designers like Oskar Metsavaht [22] of Osklen, used the hairstyle in almost all of his numbers. From an untamed mass of curls to a pulled back pony, the wet look can be used in almost any hairstyle. When creating this look, try products such as Garnier Fructis Spiking Gel (Ultra Strong) [23] and L’oreal Paris’s Studio Line Wet Gel. [24]
