Comedian Hannibal Buress has been showing up in some of comedy’s biggest TV shows during the past few years, and his next stop is Syracuse University.
University Union [12] announced “An Evening with Hannibal Buress,” a comedy performance scheduled for 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 31, at Goldstein Auditorium [13].
Since 2014, Buress has played the supporting role of Lincoln Rice on Comedy Central’s Broad City. Ilana Glazer and Abbi Jacobson, who created Broad City and star on the show, spoke at Syracuse this past October [14]. He also currently co-stars on The Eric André Show on Adult Swim.
In the past, he has written for Saturday Night Live and 30 Rock in addition to appearing in the TV series Louie and in the feature film Neighbors starring Seth Rogen.
In 2014, Buress rose to prominence after a clip from his stand-up routine went viral when Buress said that Bill Cosby has raped women, encouraging members of the audience to look it up if they did not believe him. It gained heavy media coverage that eventually led to dozens of women publicly coming forward to speak out about Cosby commiting similar crimes against them.
This semester’s comedy show starring Buress follows last semester’s performance [15] by Saturday Night Live star Kenan Thompson. Tickets for Buress’s show go on sale Monday, March 21 at 11 a.m. in the Schine Box Office. Tickets are $5 for students and faculty with a valid college ID.
