This was the team's third game of the season

In the final day of competition in the Syracuse Tournament at The Women's Building, Syracuse volleyball ran away with a 3-0 sweep over the Niagara Purple Eagles.

The morning victory was headlined by junior Amber Witherspoon and sophomore Santita Ebangwase's dominant 12-point showings. The Orange victory followed a 1-1 Saturday split as they defeated Siena, 3-0, Friday morning. They were defeated by Grand Canyon, 3-1, in the evening contest.

SU hoops battles Bears, men's soccer receives votes and volleyball spikes across campus.

Syracuse will have to repeat some of its Maui magic to win the 2014 2K Classic.

The Orange's first opponent in the annual men's basketball tournament will be the California Golden Bears on Nov. 20, according to a Wednesday press release from Syracuse Athletics. Madison Square Garden will play host to the game, which is scheduled to tip-off at approximately 9 p.m.

Once too scared to speak to her teammates, Lithuanian-born Monika Salkute now embraces a new family and a new home on the Syracuse women's volleyball team.

Between sets and after games, the Syracuse women’s volleyball team gathers in a corner of the court. They are often laughing, smiling, or — if things aren’t going so well during the game — discussing game tactics with each other. Monika Salkute, the 6-foot-3-inch, pale, blonde Lithuanian, nods quickly at her teammates’ chatter and laughs loudly when they joke.

A year ago, she stood silent and alone in the corner, too afraid to speak.

Amanda Kullman came to Syracuse with only one year of varsity volleyball under her belt, but the sophomore setter has left her mark on the Orange.

This year’s Syracuse women’s volleyball team boasts players from China, Hawaii, Canada and Puerto Rico. Most of them came to Syracuse on lucrative scholarships after many years full of volleyball. This is not the case, however, for sophomore setter Amanda Kullman. Yet, as interim head coach Kelly Morrisroe puts it, “The kid’s a coach’s dream.”

Fluctuation in the NCAA volleyball scoring system keeps blocking records from standing on firm ground.

Records can be deceiving.  Such is the case with SU middle hitter Sarah Morton.

According to SU Athletic Communications Office, Morton became SU’s all-time leader in total blocks for a career at Connecticut on Sunday afternoon, passing Jessica Paarlberg ‘ 91.  Morton now has 590 total blocks and also holds three school marks (solo blocks, blocks per set and total blocks).

Beauty and pageantry liven Manley Field House

The Salt City was gray on this Wednesday.

The colors in Manley tonight, ran warm and bright.

The Big Red from Cornell warmed up first, took the lead with a burst.

Our Orange was mad, Coach Pu was snorting.

Easy point: Homann quick to Morton.

Kacie at bat, Kacie on attack.
