Review: Cults, The Vanderbuilts successfully open University Union's first Bandersnatch show of the semester with enthusiastic brand of indie-rock.

Pulling off a successful performance in Syracuse’s Schine Underground isn’t easy. Even a talented act must face the threat of questionable acoustics and indifferent student audiences. Luckily, Cults and the Vanderbuilts overcame both obstacles with the artistic finesse of bands well-versed in small-venue performances.

“We played our first show here,” Vanderbuilts frontman Sam Kogon told the crowd between songs.

Review: Rappers Rick Ross and Ludacris please large numbers with older songs at University Union's inaugural winter concert.

Krystie Yandoli loves rap. She loves it so much that her family even made a joke about it when she was growing up. Sometimes they call her Luda-Krys.

“I’m really excited to see my namesake,” said Yandoli, a senior English student, as she waited in the minutes before rappers Ludacris and Rick Ross took the stage to perform at University Union’s inaugural Rock the Dome concert. Yandoli was one of more than 7,000 who paid to see the duo.

Review: Rapper Lil B spread peace and love at his Schine Underground performance Wednesday night.

Rapper Lil B is a god. Not a benevolent god or even a furious god, but the Based God.

“There’s only one Based God. There will never be another me,” he said before launching into stream of consciousness freestyle at his November 9 Schine Underground performance at Syracuse University. The show was the first for University Union’s Bandersnatch Music Series this semester.

Born Brendan McCartney, Lil B grew up in Berkeley, Calif.

"I think California is a great place if you wanna say this is me,” he said. “I got flowers growing out of my butt. Don’t judge me.”

Preview: Kreayshawn and Neon Indian will team up at Schine Tuesday night.

Neon Indianites and White Girl Mob soldati usually don’t hang out. Constructing one’s own synthesizer takes time and bad, um, ladies, are notoriously difficult to assemble. There’s just no room on the calendar, right?

Wrong.

Rapper B.o.B. and Swedish DJ Avicii will co-headline the semester-opening concert Sept. 11 at Skytop Field.

As a newcomer to Syracuse University, this year’s Juice Jam will be a first for me. After looking at previous years’ headliners, I was excited to see what combination of artists would share the bill at this year’s event. Today’s announcement, however, was somewhat disappointing.

The popular DJ partied both during and after his set on Saturday to the delight of all at Goldstein Auditorium.

Diplo's show on Saturday was the most anticipated event on campus up to this point in the year. So when the DJ actively engaged our fondness for social media throughout his night in addition to providing what seemed to be a highly regarded set, it all lived up to the hype.
