Local high temperature records were broken this week but will be cooling off as soon as tomorrow.

Syracuse in late September, a once picturesque fall setting, has recently experienced a heatwave with temperatures that have not been seen in over a century.

While warm weather is scarce in Syracuse especially once fall rolls around, the recent heatwave has upended some students’ expectations for the season.

“I definitely wasn’t expecting it coming into Syracuse," forensic science freshman Kyla Reitzel. "I also don’t like how we don’t have AC."

Other students have stronger feelings on the unseasonably warm weather.

The tips and tricks that will work to help you spring into a summer body and get in good enough shape to handle whatever happens at Mayfest.

Though it may not feel like it with temperatures still wavering below freezing, spring is on its way and we 'Cuse students are scrambling to get prepared. Spring in Syracuse is a wonderful thing, and not just because it means that we can finally walk to class sans parkas. In the final months of the school year we see tons of fun, outdoor events. From day parties to Mayfest, there are plenty of socially-driven events coming up that we will want to look our best for.

The sun may have set on summer but SU students had plenty of stories to share from their vacation on the first day of classes.

Syracuse University students across the country found ways to keep themselves busy this past summer, with activities ranging from internships to traveling, waitressing jobs to playing lawn games in their free time.

The NewsHouse talked Monday to dozens of students from different states, asking what they filled their summer days with. Activities varied from coast to coast, with no real pattern surfacing.

Dan Klamm, marketing and communications coordinator for the SU’s Career Services, said he’s not surprised.

If you have to spend the summer in Syracuse, you may as well enjoy it. We suggest several great local parks for when the weather heats up.

It seems hard to believe sometimes, but Syracuse is hot during the summer months! When the snow finally melts for good and the temperature rises, Central New York becomes a lovely place to be.
