SU holds off late Seton Hall charge to win its Big East opener.
The Orange, now 7-2 on the season, defeated the Seton Hall Pirates in their Big East opener tonight by a score of 1-0. Freshman midfielder Jordan Vale was able to get on the opposite end of a corner kick in the 26th minute to beat the Pirate goaltender for the only goal of the night.
Syracuse scored the games final eight points to seal a victory
The Syracuse (13-7, 2-4) women’s basketball team beat Seton Hall (7-13, 0-6) 70-66 on Sunday at the Walsh Gymnasium in South Orange, N.J. SU junior center Kayla Alexander led the Orange with 23 points, 8 rebounds and 2 blocks. Junior guard, Elashier Hall added 14 points, and a game-high 6 assists.
Syracuse beat Seton Hall, Buffalo, and Cincinnati in dominating fashion this past weekend to improve their overall record to 7-1, including 3-0 in Big East Play.
The Syracuse women’s tennis team swept its competition this weekend, beating Seton Hall University, the University of Buffalo, and Cincinnati University on three consecutive days. With a combined score of 19-2 for the weekend, the Orange improved to 7-1 on the season and 3-0 in Big East Conference play.
Though none of these teams holds as impressive a record as Syracuse (UC 1-6, Seton Hall 1-5, Buffalo 2-2), all three teams fought extremely hard and made Syracuse work for every point, game, set, and match.
The top scoring teams in Big East raced up court Tuesday on a New Jersey Turnpike reckless trip. Cruising in the car lane was the Seton Hall Pirates; over in the truck lane powered fifth-ranked Syracuse.

Corsicana, Tex. native Wes Johnson is driving a big shiny rig of a basketball game for Syracuse these days, and the forward supplied a 20-point, 19-rebound package in a 80-73 Orange win at Seton Hall’s new shiny home court at the Prudential Center.
Syracuse zooms to 13-0, 1-0 Big East, while the Pirates are curbed in their second consecutive Big East loss, and fall to 9-3, 0-2 in conference.
