Georgetown closed Wednesday's game on a 9-1 run to escape Syracuse with a 64-56 win, the Hoyas' first at the Dome since 2002.

After righting the ship on the road, Syracuse suffered another setback at home Wednesday. The Orange hosted rival Georgetown, and despite trailing for much of the second half, the Hoyas rallied late for a 64-56 win.

The Orange played one of their best defensive games of the season and shut down the Hoyas vaunted Princeton offense for 38 minutes, but it was the final two that cost Syracuse the game.

Syracuse won its second consecutive road game to pick up its 20th win of the season, as it defeated South Florida Saturday, 72-49.

A dash of good defense plus a dose of Rick Jackson were the ingredients that Jim Boeheim needed to put together a win in Tampa Saturday.  The Orange’s patented 2-3 zone defense held South Florida to 35 percent (18-of-51) shooting and led Syracuse to a 72-49 win.

Syracuse avoided the first-ever five game losing streak in the Jim Boeheim era with a 66-58 road victory Wednesday night over the No. 7 Connecticut Huskies.

In the first half it was a seemingly familiar story for the Syracuse men’s basketball team, as SU struggled with poor defense and some bad shots. The Orange missed their first six shots, committed four fouls and turned the ball over three times before finally scoring their first points of the night. Syracuse rebounded though, and went on to grab its first win at Connecticut since 1997, 66-58.

Syracuse is in the midst of its longest losing streak since the 2005-06 season after falling to the Golden Eagles of Marquette Saturday, 76-70.

Syracuse came into this crucial road test against Marquette on a three game losing streak, their longest in two years. The Golden Eagles had lost two straight of their own, and were also looking for their first victory against Syracuse as a member of the Big East.

Jeremy Hazell got hot early and poured in 28 points to help Seton Hall rout Syracuse at home and push the Orange's losing streak to three.

With 6:14 left in the second half the Syracuse faithful had seen enough. Jeremy Hazell had just converted a three-point play off of a fast break putting Seton Hall up by 24. Most of the 21,950 in attendance headed to the exits in disdain as Hazell hosted his own coming out party in the Dome, leading the Pirates to a 90-68 win.

January 22, 2011 - 7:25pm
Villanova used hot shooting early and free throw shooting down the stretch to hand the No. 3 Orange their second consecutive loss.

Syracuse’s motto this year is “Unfinished Business.” Following an 11 point loss to No. 7 Villanova in front of the second largest on-campus crowd in NCAA history, the Orange are certainly grasping the full meaning of that phrase.

In anticipation of one of the biggest games of the year, students have been camping out at the Carrier Dome for the best seats at Saturday's SU-Villanova showdown.

There is a buzz surrounding the SU campus this week, and it’s not because students are back for spring semester classes. Saturday, the third ranked men’s basketball squad will welcome seventh ranked Villanova into the Carrier Dome.

Syracuse used a couple big runs and some solid defense to stymie Cincinnati and hand the Bearcats their second loss of the season.

On paper, Saturday’s contest between the undefeated Syracuse Orange and the one-loss Cincinnati Bearcats looked like a battle of top Big East teams. However, the Orange used big runs at the start of both halves and the biggest college basketball crowd this season to run away from the Bearcats for an easy 67-52 win.

Syracuse set a record for fewest points allowed in a half at the Carrier Dome as they held Colgate to eight points in the first half Saturday night en route to an easy win, 100-43.

December 5, 2010 - 1:54am
SU escaped with another narrow victory in the Carrier Dome against N.C. State Saturday night.

The old saying in sports is no matter how arduous a task or how ugly it is, a win is a win, even if you’re a top ten college basketball team. The eighth ranked Syracuse Orange have played in a few tightly-contested games more than head coach Jim Boeheim’s liking. They continued their cardiac-kid style of play with a 65-59 victory over North Carolina State Saturday night at the Carrier Dome.
