The Syracuse University women’s volleyball team returned to the court at the Carrier Dome for one last time this season, and made it count. The Orange grinded out a victory in a mid-week battle against familiar foe Notre Dame.
Syracuse (12-13, 7-6 ACC) succeeded in countering every shift of momentum for Notre Dame (10-14, 4-9 ACC). The Fighting Irish lived up to its name, and kept each set close. However, with two come-from-behind sets, the Orange escaped with a three set victory, by a score of 25-19, 25-23 and 25-23.
The Orange came into South Bend with a chance to possibly clinch an NCAA Tournament berth. The team didn't play like it had anything to prove in the first half, going scoreless for the first two quarters of the game. After Notre Dame took a 4-0 lead into halftime, Syracuse lit a fire and came out strong in the second half. The bench was energized, the players were fighting for ground balls and the Orange looked like it could win the game. But the Fighting Irish fought off Syracuse and never let them cut the lead to less than one.

Poor shooting plagued the Syracuse women's basketball team (15-10, 4-7) in their 74-55 loss to No. 2 ranked Notre Dame (24-1, 11-0) on Tuesday night in the Carrier Dome. The No. 1 team in the nation lost its first game of the season Saturday night as Notre Dame (12-8, 4-3) beat Syracuse (20-1, 7-1) 67-58 at the Joyce Center in South Bend, Ind.
